In my last Coromon post, the greatest Battle Researcher in all the land helped the poor people of Hayville. They were under attack by swarms of bees, their teleporter was broken, and some chump in the library ignored it all and challenged the great Battle Researcher to a Battle of the Wits instead... a battle the great Battle Researcher swiftly won.
With Hayville safe from swarms of buzzy bees, and a significant upgrade equipped into the gauntlet the Researcher wore, it was time to continue onwards to Donar Island where a great Titan was rumoured to dwell.
The great Battle Researcher found herself in a thick, wooded forest. All of her Coromon were level 10 and she wanted them to be level 14 before continuing on towards the Island.
If a Titan truly lived there, she'd need to be prepared.
It was here I discovered that sometimes Coromon can attack in teams of two! A pity only one of my own comes out. They were swiftly dealt with though.
While training my Coromon to become even stronger, I came across my second potent creature! I caught it, simply because it was of Potent quality, but I had no real interest in the creature and sent it straight to my Coromon Storage.
After exploring the forest for a bit, a little puzzle was presented to the Battle Researcher.
Wooden logs lay scattered across the area, preventing her passage. A minor annoyance for a great Researcher such as herself, for she had a PUSH module in her gauntlet and could move the logs with ease.
Once she had pushed aside many logs and navigated through Coromon-infested wilds, a cabin appeared.
Curious, she walked inside...
To be greeted by a cranky old man!
He was the one who had placed the heavy logs everywhere, he just wanted to be alone, and now my Battle Researcher had the audacity to waltz right into his house.
So, he challenged her to a battle.
Surprised that someone would be so offended by a stranger just walking into their house, the Battle Researcher flung out her Potent bird and stole all of the stranger's gold as she defeated him and put him in his place.
And then proceeded to loot the man's house of everything he owned. That'll teach him for being offended that a stranger had showed up.
While stealing the man's earthly belongings, he started crying and told her all about how a Coromon he had loved had died. So, the Battle Researcher decided to try and find him a new one...
...that decision was made as she continued to pocket his worldly goods. Makes sense.
The Battle Researcher left the cranky old man to his lonely grief and continued through the forest, battling other Researchers and wild Coromon as she went, and soon all of her little beasties with level 14 and ready to continue on.
The boatmaster was awaiting her arrival and practically dragged her onto his boat, not even allowing her to investigate the area first.
And soon they arrived at Donar Island.
The weather was abysmal. Lux Solis Headquarters believed the abysmal weather to be related to the Coromon Titan that was rumoured to live on this island. It was the Great Battle Researcher's job to stop it, and capture its essence as it was felled.
As usual, I investigated the area before doing anything else. I investigated the shop and bought some things, walked into all the houses, looted their cupboards and fridges, and met a guy who offered to illegally upgrade one of my Coromon...
Naturally my Battle Researcher agreed to the illegal upgrade and one of her Coromon evolved! 😁
It's here on Donar Island you gain access to a couple of new things!
On the top floor of the Coromon Health Centre are two scientists. One will randomise one of your Coromon's traits for the paltry fee of $1000, and the other will increase your Coromon's potential by one point, for $2500.
If you use either service, they take your Coromon for a short amount of time and will send you a text message on your phone when your Coromon are ready to be retrieved.
Of course that Potential raising service doesn't mean much unless you know the Potent potential of your Coromon.
At the local Donar Island lab is a man who gave my lady a Potential Reader. Now she can discover the exact Potency level of her Potent captures.
A Perfect Coromon has a Potency of 21.
So, ideally you want to find and catch a Coromon with a Potency of 20, so you can take it to the Potential Raiser Guy, and pay him $2500 to make it 'Perfect'. Or just be super lucky and find a Perfect Coromon, but that's exceptionally rare.
I never once in my life found a Shiny Pokemon whilst living in various Pokemon games. Apparently finding a Perfect Coromon out in the wild is rarer than that. According to Steam Discussions anyway.
With the town of Donar Island thoroughly investigated, I was swiftly insulted by the lead researcher at the local Donar Island lab, then handed a hard hat and directed to go to some nearby caves.
It was at this time though that I got a text message from my "buddy" in the library back in Hayville. Apparently he had read a lot of books and had grown smarter, and so wanted to reclaim his title as Smartest In All The Land.
I couldn't turn down that challenge.
With my hard hat in place, I teleported back to Hayville and stared down at the nerd before me.
I'll show him who's smartest!!
It was worth it too. After besting him for the second time, he rewarded me with a Sloth Gem. Which is an upgraded version of the Lazy Gem. You can make a Coromon hold it to gain a lot of XP for not even bothering to participate in the battle.
Perfect.
(I still prefer the Monster Sanctuary way of levelling up. Where everyone in your party levels up, not just those who participated. Sigh.)
And with that, three whole hours had passed and my playtime is now at 7 and a half hours. 7 and a half hours and I'm only just now getting to Donar Island and making my way to defeat the first Titan.
I think that's pretty good? I'm generally a fan of longer games. Shorter ones make me sad. It probably helps that I'm focusing on over-levelling up all my beasties and not just winging it. 🙂
I'm still not really sure about my Coromon Party either. I don't have much diversity just yet, but then, I've only come across maybe 15 different Coromon and there's 114 of the things. I'll probably have more over-levelling to do later as I find good electric, water, ground, etc, Coromon.
I'm still really enjoying this pokemon-clone so far. Looking forward to defeating the first Titan in my next post!! 😁
Until next time!! 😊🦄✨
