Loot and experience is an essence of increasing power
"This shall be a beastly weapon to use instead of always relying on magic, this Battleaxe of the Righteous Path infused with health absorption" said Octharg as he enchanted his battleaxe, gaining level 23 in the process.
Enchanting weapons and armour is something he was due to do for a while now. It was going to be more helpful for future endeavours to become easier than they normally would be.
So began a fresh set of adventuring to complete some new quests for money toward better enchanted gear, but to find our villain some new places to explore in the easier areas where the enemies wouldn't destroy him in seconds.
A cave that was previously cleared had been taken up by Bertulus the Ripper who had just been sitting inside for the most and reading magic books to learn spells. Bound battleaxe was summoned by Octharg and Bertulus was so weak, that it was swift and painless for the slicing death that took him out instantly.
A walk was the next step and would lead to another quest at some point. First off is exploring the caves or watchtowers and any other areas to the West of Ark, places that are mostly easier to live through but hadn't been cleared amongst his adventures thus far.
"Filthy rats" Octharg shouted before taking the rats out and entering the cave Grotto at the Crossroads.
Inside the cave were bandits of course. These bandits are almost more common than the Lost One skeletons in some areas. So it turned into a quick run through this cave and clearing all enemies including the bandit leader Helene, she was too easy to beat too.
Octharg wasn't surprised to find it a breeze to deal with due to how much stronger he has become over time, but the loot was going to do wonders for strengthening him with better gear and hopefully new and more powerful ranks of his spells.
"Well hello there Old Customs Facilities, did not see you off to the side here but I like it."
It was a peaceful location and somewhat hidden amongst its location but easier to see from the way he came, not the front entrance gate. Octharg had to laugh at the creatures he was seeing in there.
"Haha you inferior spiders can get your life sapped from you instantly and the rest will get burned alive!" he shouted after laughing briefly.
Octharg thought he was about done with this old, rundown place but there was a trapdoor he could take along with some fire damage. It was only a small amount of damage taken as he dropped down and went forward, through to the lower level area which had a mother spider waiting to be burned by his flame cloak and allow safe passage through to the outside.
"I can hear the wind from the outside. Once I burn this spider to death, will have to enjoy the sight of the outside before going into the fresh air."
Next location to be found on this leisurely walk was Lightbreach Mine that was connected to a camp with Vatyr in it. A summoned Fire Elemental was going to help while Octharg protected himself with some increased armour from the Divine Shield spell, flame cloak to burn it down with help from life absorption.
It started off as a tougher fight before he had the shield up and was draining their life, but after a short time it became a quick and easier fight as these were a weaker group of Vatyr, luckily or it would've require Octharg to move around more to avoid lots of quick damage being done to him.
After dealing with the camp and as he expected, inside the mine had more Vatyr just waiting throughout and there were quite a few, manageable to deal with them though but it would be good experience gained either way.
Once he had killed off the first couple of Vatyr and continued forward, he realised this mine gave him a chance to test out the spell Saldrin's Touch, something that turns ore veins into coins and he would realise that a higher ranked version would be better most likely, to get a better amount of coins from ore veins.
"That is a pityful amount of coins. At least I now know what it is like, will try find a higher ranked version and see if I get more coins that way."
A final push through the mine sees some of the Vatyrs have their souls trapped into the empty gems, thanks to the soul trap spell. These filled gems are great for recharging enchanted weapons, or using it to make more enchanted gear that gets more powerful when a bigger soul is put into a bigger gem.
"Ah this is great. You will come in handy for the gear I make before heading back to Wellwatch and those tough areas."
With this cave now cleared of all enemies and there being sleeping beds setup in one of the locations from previous occupants, Otharg the Destroyer thought it was best to take a rest there and enjoy the peace and quite for a change.
This was part 25 in a series accompanying Octharg The Destroyer on his journey to regain his lost power and become the destroyer he once was.
Stay tuned for part 26 and see what befalls our villain.
