This last week, a new raised bed was finished on our property. My husband had the idea to plant some ginger and turmeric in it. I had planted some last year in my greenhouse, but I figured it died during dry season.
I found the containers it was growing in inside my (now fallen down) greenhouse and saw that there were some green shoots growing! I couldn't believe that it was still alive! I carried the containers over to the new raised bed and dumped them out.
I had three with turmeric and one with ginger, so there was a much bigger harvest of turmeric than ginger, but that's ok! I was able to get quite a bit of turmeric and a big piece of ginger - all organic - all grown by me doing absolutely nothing. That's the kind of plants I need more of!
I replanted all off the turmeric pieces with big roots on them and all of the ginger. I can't wait to see this little raised bed full of these plants!
Hi Yoshi!
Usually I just grate the two and boil them along with my tea in the afternoon. I put them in a stir fry meal before, but the kids said the flavor was too strong. Ha! I am super excited to have an even bigger harvest in the future!
