This is a photo of my hellebores for . I bet there are flowers under that mess… They’d be right near the fern seed pods.
On Tuesday morning I wasn’t up until after 6AM. The fires had gone out in the night and the house was down to 60F, much too cold for me. But the sun would be out soon so I put a heavy sweater on and waited.
We are 10 or 11 days away from the Equinox and the sun has finally come up away from the trees. Right now it goes straight through the kitchen but when the Equinox arrives it will go down the hall into the office and out the west window.
It took me forever to edit the photos and get my post up. I didn’t finish until just before my helper arrived at 10:30AM. He did some chores while I got organized to send him on errands. While he was gone, I got a load in the dishwasher.
When he got back, I got him set up to make more of the French Onion Meatballs. I didn’t manage to get out to the gardens until nearly 1:15PM.
The idea was to clean out the South garden. But I started at the thyme in the walkway and worked back. By the time I made it to the corner in the garden, I was too hot and tired. So I went to sit on the steps and ended up cleaning out the thyme along the west side.
That’s why I don’t sit outside when I’m not able to garden. There’s too much to do to sit and look at it. Once I’d finished that west side, I went inside to cool down and rest. I had a phone appointment at 3PM and so after that I went back out and finished up.
I’d really like to get the south facing gardens done, but they still have a lot of snow in the way. But when I went to dump the sleds of debris, I discovered the west end of the shed was clear.
That poor garden never got touched last year, so I’m hoping I can manage to get it done on Wednesday morning before PT at noon. I’ll be way too tired after PT even though it will be warm and nice.
So I doubt I’ll go to exercise class because even if I don’t get out there I still have a kitchen to clean up and seedlings to tend. I should also fold the laundry and put it away. So we will see how far I get…
