Hello again Hive Garden Community! It’s a new day and I’m here again to share another blog about garden and plants.
On my recent blogs, we visited our hometown which is last Saturday and also, we visited my grandma’s garden which is my dream garden because she really had variety of plants and she has a lot of collections of elephant ear plants. So, allow me to share it to you guys her humble garden.
She started to collect different kinds of elephant ear plants year 2020, when pandemic era begun. She had different kinds of elephant ear plants, some are colored pink, mixed color of green and red, white and also different on sizes. Gardening became one of her stress relievers. Also, she was able to have some money because of these plants, it was really expensive. Taking good care of these plants also require effort and I really admire my grandma’s dedication on her garden. I asked her what’s her secret that her plants always look lively, she said to me to treat plants like your friend, she also talks to them every day because plants also have a life.
One that caught my attention is this elephant ear with long leaves and the color was vibrant yellow green. I’m not familiar their names, haha. My grandmother told me she sold some of these and the buyer was willing to pay it for almost 2000 pesos or equivalent to 40 HBD. It was really expensive. So, I’m planning to plant some and make it an extra income, haha.
Aside from her collections of elephant ear plants, she also has some flowering plants like calachuchi, and this white flower that stands out among her flowering plants.
She also had some medicinal plants, like this water spinach with a purple/violet leaf. This water spinach was a good remedy if you had a dengue fever. Just boil it on water and drink one cup of it every day.
She also had some eggplants that she planted on a styro box. The fruits of this eggplant were round shape.
I was also surprised that she also planted some strawberry plants, because I thought that this plant was only planted with cold weather places like Baguio City here in the Philippines. She said that it will bear some fruits on the month of February. She just planted it beside their water pump.
What I adore most about her garden is that, it was really welcoming and it really adds beauty to her house. Her plants became her companion when my grandpa died. She also told me that it became her way to became busy and she really enjoys planting. Also, on their neighborhood she was the one that gave them some elephant ear plants. Although some are willing to pay for it, she just gave it for free.
Someday, I would love to have a garden like my grandma because right now I do have some priorities to do first, but I also make time to plant like vegetables that would be beneficial for my family.
That’s all my dear hivers of this community. Till’ next blog. Have a wonderful day 😊.
