The tomato and pepper plants are loaded with fruit. Every two days I pick about the same amount as in the above photo. I pick them at this stage and allow them to ripen on the counter for a few days. We have been having a lot of rain and they tend to crack if left on the vines. Then I process them to make sauce.
These black cherry tomatoes are climbing up one of my birdhouse platforms.
This striped tomato has grown to the top of my trellis and now reaching into the lilac tree nearby. It is loaded with blossoms and fruit.
On the opposite side of the trellis, this winter squash has found a place to climb and I have no idea what variety it is.
The cucumber plants are starting to show signs of wilt. I only see a few small fruits left on the plant. I imagine they will be done within the next week or so.
Another issue has arrived. All the zucchini plants are dying off due to the squash bug borers. I did plant some new seeds and hopefully will get a harvest by the end of the season.
Every variety of hot peppers that I grew is loaded with peppers. I have to start harvesting them soon to make hot sauces.
I have 8 or more hot peppers to make up different sauces to enjoy. The #pantry shelves are filling up fast with all the #canning I have been doing.
This is the largest eggplant so far and another smaller one has started.
The other 4 eggplants only have flowers on them and I wonder if they will have enough time to set fruit large enough before the cold weather sets in.
This summer squash plant has taken over the front garden and I am getting about 3 large squash weekly. The deer came through and ate a lot of the butternut squash vines.
This tomato plant is a large slicing variety and falls over with the weight of the tall vines and fruit. We have been enjoying bacon, lettuce, and tomato sandwiches for lunch.
The endive is ready to be picked, and I must process it this week. That will be another post upcoming soon. Thank you for visiting my #gardenjournal update for August. Happy gardening to everyone.
Until next time, this is Sunscape
