In search of something that I could post for the Asean Hive Community’s “Everywhere Yellow” contest, I found myself ordering at the ABC Indian-Muslim restaurant. This is the place that I remember that has colorful dishes and flavorsome too. I may not often go and eat at Indian restaurants, spicy food is not my preference, some dishes are mildly spicy that I can say are tolerable for my taste. One of which is Prata.
One of the qualities of a Prata that I’m fascinated about is that you can’t simply entrust it to anyone other than an Indian chef. It’s like the noodle pulling by Chinese chefs and pizza stretching by the Italians. It requires a master’s skill to pull off a good quality Prata. It’s also the reason why nobody has ever, none that I know of, has successfully invented a machine that replaces the human’s skill in making this dish. Making an authentic Prata using a machine will never work and I guess nobody will patronize it anyway.
Among all the Indian food, a Prata is the one that can be eaten at any time of the day. It’s best eaten in the morning, during breakfast, because it’s filling and it’s also served fast. It can be eaten fast too, as a delicious comfort food at an affordable price.
A plain Prata would only cost around S$1.50 to S$1.80 while the ones with added fillings or toppings will cost more than that depending on the additional ingredients. For tonight’s supper, I ordered Egg Prata, 2 orders of it 😅 Each piece cost me S$2.20 which is considered affordable because of the quality of the curry sauce.
The whole set of this meal, which includes the iced lemon tea, has cost me S$6.70 in total. A good price to pay for a good quality meal. Also, I felt satisfied after finishing this meal.
I'll come back to this place to try the other flavors or fillings of the Prata. See you on my next craving!
