Taiwanese food in the city
Good morning.. I am . I hope that your happy and great. Have you eaten your breakfast? I am going to introduce to you a place where you can eat Taiwanese food in the city.
YONG HO CAFE
by the road
FRIED DOUGH with Mayo filling
In the city, fried dough is found on the menu but this place is special and it has this unique fried dough with mayo in between. Cut into small bits. I came here with , my wife. Occasionally.
If you ever want to visit this cafe, do come here early. It closes in the afternoon at around one.
Located in the heart of the older part of the city, this is a place that many older folks usually visit. Opposite the road is the local market that sells handicrafts made by the locals.
The roadside view
The best type of food are usually from my view found by the road. That is one traditional signboard.
Older sign boards were drawn by stencil. New boards are printed and cut by machine. Imagine those glorious days when this place was bustling with the young of the older generation a couple of decades ago. The person who makes these doughs is probably in his fifties.
There are an alleyway where you can seat too. If you walk into this alleyway, you will see some older shops that still operate here with some already closed down. There used to be a hotel here but now abandoned.
FRESH SOYA BEAN MILK
Soya Bean milk made fresh. Many cafes and restaurants have fresh soya beans that you can order made from homes around the city. One bottle only cost about USD 50 cents or RM 2.50.
My wife waiting for her food with her mask. When the pandemic is finally over in the future, we would be looking back at these pictures wondering why we had mask on.
Two glasses of fresh soya bean milk . Taste like milk but it's plant based.
The kitchen
Dough kneading, frying..
FRIED DOUGH WITH MAYONNAISE
This is delicious. It taste like croissant with custard. Slightly salty but creamy. like cheese creamy.
MEE KOLOK
Orange and red. Sarawakian noodles boiled in water mixed with sauce. The taste is delectable. I am not joking.
DING BIAN HU
One of my wife's favourite food. Not many places you can eat this. Lots of skill to make. The rice flour congee noodle. The rice flour batter is slowly poured into boiling water forming noodles. It has that congee / porridge taste. Fried shallots , diced leek, black fungus adds on that satisfactory yummilicious mouth watering enhancement to the taste of this dish.
CHONG YU BING / FRIED ONION PANCAKES
The only place that I know of that sells this. Delicious. The best thing is that you can order small plates of eat and share it.
I hope that you enjoyed reading this post. Have a great day. It has been food post for the last few days. I love eating, exploring and recording videos.
