Ranau is a town located at around half an hours drive from Kundasang. The elevation here is on average of 780 metres and the population here is slightly below 10k. There are petrol stations, foodcourts and many others. Why is this important? This area is so high up that you need sometime to drive up here.
One of those places that I visited while I was here, was the Hakka foodcourt.

This foodcourt is in an open air setting and the number of stalls here is huge. Lots and lots of people. I brought my mom-in-law, sis-in-law and wife here.

The drinks. Self service counter. You have to order and pay here. Then, the waiter brings the drink over to your table.

The large number of stalls here. So many choices to choose. What would you want to eat here?

So, what did we order? With so many choices, it was definitely not easy to do so. So what I did was just check out the store that was the nearest to me.
A bowl of soup

Slightly purplish.
A plate of delicious Kolok mee

Red coloured noodles. Have you seen such noodles? Traditional breakfast choice. The noodles have this umami taste to it. Mix everything up accordingly to get the best burst of flavours bursting into the taste buds.
I ordered a plate of chicken rice. Nasi Lalapan.
The fried chicken looks quite crispy. This is an Indonesian dish that is quite popular here in Malaysia.

One plate of rice and another plate is the fried chicken, sambal (special sauce), tempeh and some slices of cucumber.

After eating, it was time to head off.
If you do visit Ranau in the future, do check out this foodcourt. There are other nature related activities to do that can be reached from this town.
Thank yoi for reading this post. Have a great day.
