Hello dear friends! I am still at my brother’s house, but I will soon go to Siem Reap next week to visit my sister’s house and visit Angkor Wat. Today my sister-in-law winnowed the rice.
She puts the rice in a bamboo basket and waits for the wind to come.
When there is wind she winnows the rice. If the grain has rice, they will fall, and if they it does not have rice grain, it will fly through the air.
Then she put the rice and clean it again with the “chang-ey”made from bamboo.
Then she threw away the weeds. If people harvest rice by hand, they have to use this method to clean the rice. These are the ways we have been doing it since our ancestors.
Nowadays, they do not use it much because they like to harvest rice with a machine, and it is easier than before. But less money because the cost of renting a harvester is expensive and the price of rice is cheap.
My brother is fishing for the make sour soup with waterlily. This food is popular in the countryside.
All the people in this village cook with firewood. This village is called Banana House.
These vegetables we picked for free from this village. They’re very fresh vegetables.
This is my aunt's cucumber field. They are growing baby cucumber.
Jackfruit is my husband favorite fruits. It’s so delicious and sweet. When I eat it it makes me miss my husband so much.
My sister is scratching a coconut for making food.
It's something we made from our ancestors for coconut scratching. The people in the city stopped using it a long time ago but it’s still popular for people in the countryside.
Monkey-B loves these calves very much, but these calves do not let her near them.
These are kids in this village.
In the evening my brother made firewood for the cows.
This is my sister, she lives in Battambang near the Khmer-Thai border. She came to visit me two days ago. We wake up early in the morning and light a fire to talk and have fun.
Most rural women like to wear sarongs like that. Have a beautiful day everybody and stay healthy 😊❤️.
