Hello everyone 👧
After attending my friend's wedding and resting at a drink shop, we headed to the homestay owner's house to pick up the key to the homestay that we going to stay for a night. Instead of the homestay owner entertaining us, her friend is the one who hands us over the key.
The homestay was situated in a rural area of Keningau, with colourful terrace houses built in a modern style. Our next destination for a family trip was near this homestay, so we selected this as our staycation.
Keningau is still developing as a tourist destination, so there aren't many visitors staying here. When we first arrived at this homestay, it was quiet and many of the lots were unoccupied.
Too many keys we received from the homestay's owner friend. I need to use three keys to unlock the front door pad lock, front grill door and front sliding door. The remaining keys was for back doors, toilet doors, bedroom doors and the gate pad lock. Fortunately, no one was in a hurry for the toilet, as I found it somewhat irritating to have to open so many locks, like opening a treasure box with lots of locks.
This homestay consists of a living room with a sofa, 2 bedrooms, 2 toilet rooms, washing machine, television, refrigerator, water heater jug, rice cooker, and kitchen utensils.
The bedrooms were on the first floor, one with air conditioning and another with only a stand fan. The most shocking discovery is no water heater for bathing in the toilets. Therefore, we need to take a bath early to avoid bathing in cold water. This is my first time staying in a homestay without a water heater for bathing.
My Mum came up with a brilliant idea. She said we just boil the water in the water heater jug and mix it with the toilet's cold water in a pail. This way, we had warm water when taking a bath. Bravo, Mummy 👏👏.
No WiFi in this homestay. The smart television was useless without WiFi or cable satellite to connect television programs for us to watch. Additionally, only Maxis's mobile phone lines have good reception. I have to connect to hotspot from my Mum Maxis mobile internet in order to surf the web.
Before going out to our next destination, we resting and enjoy eating the biscuit's door gifts which received from my friend's wedding in the living room.
Our next destination is to visit Taman Bandukan Riverside Resort. For the details of our visit there, I will share it in my next post.
The homestay was just beside the jungle and river. There was a white notice written in Malay and English language warning Beware of Monkey. I reminded my family that we put our shoes inside the homestay as we feared our shoes would be stolen by the monkeys 🐒.
Only one convenient store is close to the homestay area. However, we just ate my friend's wedding door gifts for breakfast the next morning. As well as breakfast drinks, we also made coffee using instant coffee that we brought from home.
We returned the homestay keys to the cleaner who lives close to the homestay. We were almost accused by the homestay owner of stealing their items by the cleaner who did not properly clean the homestay after check-out. The cleaner said we had stolen three bathing towels which we hung on the hook behind the bedroom door.
My deposit money for the homestay was refunded by the homestay owner two days after we checked out. The homestay owner apologised to me for the fault accusation. Since I did not lose my deposit money for being wrongly accused, I just forgive her/him.
The homestay owner was very mysterious ❓. My communication with her/him was solely through What Apps messenger during the booking process, check in process, and check out process without meeting in person.
That's all. Thanks for reading my post 🤗.
