Established in Birgi (İzmir, Turkey) in 1892, Tokoğlu Bread Bakery is now run by Nazmi Tok, the fifth generation son. In 1954, they built a wood oven in the shop they use now, and they have been making good breads in the same building for 68 years.
1892 yılında, İzmir Birgi'de kurulan Tokoğlu Ekmek Fırını, şimdi beşinci kuşak oğul Nazmi Tok tarafından işletiliyor. 1954'de şimdi kullandıkları dükkana bir odun fırını inşa etmişler ve 68 yıldır aynı binada güzel ekmekler üretiyorlar.

The famous bread of the bakery is chickpea leavened breads that they have been producing for a long time. And they do not use any additives in these breads. They also make whole grain bread.

At the bakery, I had the opportunity to chat with the boss and two workers. Boss Nazmi Tok mentioned that their business has not been going well due to the economic depression and increasing raw material prices in Turkey for the last year. But despite these negativities, he seemed very warm and cheerful.
Fırında, patronla birlikte iki işçiyle sohbet etme fırsatım oldu. Patron Nazmi Tok, son bir yıldır Türkiye'de yaşanan ekonomik buhran ve artan hammadde fiyatları yüzünden işlerinin pek de güzel gitmediğinden bahsetti. Ama bu olumsuzluklara rağmen çok sıcakkanlı ve neşeli görünüyordu.
