My bowl of happiness!!!
I only needed these ingredients for today's cooking; sliced beef, sliced pork belly and the Haidilao soup pack.
Cleaned and defrosted the assorted seafood balls. Man I love these!
Very good priced shabu shabu thinly sliced pork from my favourite butcher.
Got some striploin in shabu shabu slices too from a nearby grocer. Rm16.99 for 6 slices. Still find the pork slices taste better than these so I will omit these out the next round.
Prepped my ingredients in containers and waited for lunch time to come.
The soup seasoning from Haidilao - Clear Broth Soup Pack in powder form and comes with a vacuum packed red dates and gojiberries!
Dropped in the assorted seafood balls first.
After cooking the meat and vegetable, I dished them out to prevent them from being overcooked.
Do you have a cooking hack or lazy cooking menu on your mind? Well I do! This is the top 1 of the list!
I love the....
Haidilao Clear Broth Soup Pack!
I first tried it at my friend's steamboat house when she invited my family over for a steamboat. I was so enjoying this Broth that I had to get one myself. From that day on, I will buy whenever I see this pack because then it can be my "lazy to cook and I want to cheat" kind of cooking!
I don't cook this all the time because the steamboat ingredients such as the prawn balls, lobster balls and assorted tofu can be a bit pricey, same goes to the thinly sliced shabu shabu pork and beef slices!!
Haidilao is a China food chain that has branched into Malaysia. It is well known for its steamboat and dipping sauce and now that it has come out with convenient packs with various flavours, I think it is a hit! Some of these soups are also same as the ones in their restaurants which is not cheap to dine in. Hence why we can try to just replicate it at home, we can save a lot this way!
Ingredients for my "cheating steamboat":
- shabu shabu beef slices
- shabu shabu pork slices
- siew pak choy
- steamboat assorted balls
- Enoki mushrooms
I defrosted and washed the ingredients. I chopped the vegetables and boiled a pot of 1000ml water. Then I added in the soup pack in the powder form. After that I added their given vacuum packed red dates and gojiberries and then I just needed to wait till it is near lunch time!
Lunch Time!
Now it is time to drop in the assorted seafood balls and then using a chopstick, I dipped my shabu shabu beef and pork in one by one for just maybe 1 minute. Once I see the meat changed to cooked colour, I took them out immediately to avoid overcooking.
I almost forgot my enoki mushrooms so I added them in a bit later.
Then lunch is served, this easily!
I enjoyed it, the boys enjoyed it, the husband enjoyed it!
