After having fun at The Escape Room (which I blogged about at my previous post), we gathered at a rather new food court at Berjaya Times Square (BTS) for dinner. There were 11 of us, hence I decided at this place for more variety to cater for everyone's tastebuds. This food court is called Taste of Asia, from the name, I hoped the food was nice.
Exploring Taste of Asia!
I was glad that I did not make the wrong decision. It was an appropriate place for us all; food ranging from Chinese, to Malay, to Indian Mamak, to Pakistan, to Western and to Indonesian. This food court has many stalls with different stalls selling different food. They are Yong Tao Foo, chicken rice stall, Chinese noodle, pasta and pizza stall, sizzling and little wok, Malay nasi kandar, Indonesia nasi kandar, mala hotpot, Indian mamak and nasi kandar, and also Pakistan food. The place was spacious and surprisingly ventilation was good.
The Food We Ordered!
Indonesia mixed rice
I ordered for myself from the Indonesian stall. It served a wide array of food until I felt I was totally spoilt for choice. I walked to and fro looking at the chicken dishes and fish dishes cooked in variety of ways, it took me awhile to decide what I wanted. In the end, I chose beef 'rendang' and 'sayur pucuk' cooked in coconut milk. Sayur pucuk should be their wild vegetables, very flavourful and has its distinct taste. I love it. The beef rendang was cooked till so soft, even with braces, I could bite them easily. I was very satisfied.
Malay mixed rice
My husband picked his choice of food from Malay mixed rice shop, similar concept with the Indonesia stall, serving wide array of dishes. However, this is cooked in Malay Malaysian's way. My husband chose curry chicken, fish in coconut curry and beef rendang. He said it was delicious.
Bolognese pasta
My son and his friends bought food from the pasta shop. My son chose fettuccine bolognese with sausage. I was wondering why he chose fettuccine with bolognese. To my understanding, fettuccine was more delicious with carbonara. Anyway, never mind. His friends chose mac 'n cheese with bacon and bolognese spaghetti mushrooms. I did not get to ask them how was their food because they were busy chitchatting. However, from their faces and the speed of eating, the food should be delicious.
Fried rice and Kantonese noodle
My brother and his wife ordered from the Little Wok shop, which according to my brother is a verh popular franchise in many food courts and the serves really super wok-hei fry food. My brother was very faithful with his choice of food — fried rice and fried chicken. His wife ordered Kantonese noodle, a stir fry kuey teow and deep fried rice vermicelli were soaked in yummy egg savoury gravy. Delicious!
Tandoori and Naan
My friend ordered Tandoori and naan from the Pakistani shop. She said they tasted awesome too.
Sambal petai chicken
My friend's husband ordered from another Chinese stall selling ala carte rice. He chose stir fry chicken in sambal petai. Although not the best he had tried, this one considered passed!
The next time when I visit Berjaya Times Square mall again, I wanted to dine here because there are still many other food from the Indonesia stall which I wanted to try. And of course, I want to try the food from the HotPot shop too. It was really a fun night hanging out together. It turned out, we all really needed friends, some chilling moments.
