El Sauzal is a rather small town on the north coast of Tenerife, known mainly for its restaurant-terraces with amazing views & wine (as it lies in the famous Tacoronte-Acentejo wine region). It lies on a high cliff so probably nobody would expect it to have a proper coastal area with beaches.
Let me tell you something: it's not true!
Yes, you won't find a typical sandy beach in El Sauzal, but a very unique coastal area with beautiful coves, public barbeque spots, and amazing views.
I spent Saturday afternoon with my friends there and it was one of the best chill days I have ever had in my life! Since we arrived by public transport, we had to walk a little down the steep cliff but then we were rewarded with the most pleasant dip in the ocean. After that, we took a place at one of the barbeque tables. Each of the tables had its barbeque built on the side, which was great. We brought our coal and lighter and as soon as we started the fire, we also got our food ready to be barbequed. Since we used the ocean as the fridge for our drinks, we went to grab some of them.
And then one of the coolest dinners started. We had a lot of amazing food: chicken, mushrooms with cheese, vegetables... and a lot of local wine. I think we must've drank 3 bottles (oh god 😅) while dancing to the music coming out of our speakers... then, we jumped into the ocean once more since we were feeling hot again. And then, we watched the sun set into the ocean and it was the perfect ending to a perfect afternoon.
