Poseidon

During my year in Nacka, I loved taking leisurely walks along Nacka Strand, where Carl Milles' incredible sculptures were displayed. One day, I came across the Poseidon piece and thought, "Wow, this is a famous work!" It's such an iconic sculpture in Gothenburg, Sweden’s second-largest city, and it really symbolizes the place. What a joy it was to see it in the museum!

I also recognized several other pieces from my travels in Japan. This fantastic art museum in Hakone is called the Hakone Open-Air Museum, where you can find Milles' works too.

Reflecting on that time, I feel so lucky to have experienced the original artwork in Stockholm. Strolling through the museum in the lovely summer weather was just delightful!

Carl Milles の作品はNacka で１年住んだ時、いつも散歩に行っていた Nacka Strand に彼の作品が展示されていて、いつか Carl Milles の美術館に行きたいと思っていたので行けたときは本当に嬉しかった。特にこの Poseidon と言う作品を見た時は、「あ、これがあの有名な作品か！」と実物を見れてこころが踊る気持ちだった。Poseidon はスウェーデン第二の都市、Gotenburg の広場に展示されている有名な彫刻で町のシンボルにもなっています。それをこの美術館で出会えたことは嬉しかったです。

他にも数点、日本でも見たことのある作品がありました。箱根の彫刻の森と言う美術館があり、そこでも彼の作品を見ることができます。そこで展示されていた作品の原作がストックホルムで出会えたことは今思えば本当に貴重な体験をさせてもらったと思います。夏の北欧の清々しい天気の中、美術館を散策できて、幸せでした。
