Hace poco estuve de paseo por Valencia, una ciudad reconocida por sus famosas paellas, naranjas, playas y fiestas.

Aunque disfrute de muchos de esos imprescindibles también aproveché para comprobar qué tal era una heladería muy famosa durante a los últimos años por haber sido ganadora en varios concursos nacionales e internaciones de helados artesanales.

Dejo claro que no voy a compararlo con los helados italianos porque para eso me voy a Italia y hago una ruta por allá, lo que si puedo hacer es compartir mi impresión con respecto a la calidad de los buenos helados que se pueden encontrar en algunos lugares de España.

Lo primero, creo que la fotografía refleja mi felicidad en cuanto a las dimensiones del helado grande de tres sabores, con este detalle particular no tengo ninguna queja, tampoco con sus versiones pequeñas de un sabor, cantidades adecuadas y con un precio bastante estándar para el tipo de local con bastante popularidad.

Yo siempre pido los helados en cono, me encanta poderme comer la base del helado y además poder comparar si estas están hechas de cero y con ingredientes de calidad, estás estaban bastante aceptables, con un dulzor adecuado pero sin ningún rasgo particular que resaltar.

En cuanto a los helados individuales pude probar los sabores de capuchino y fresa, bastante logrados, de textura suaves aunque el de fruta un poco cristalizado.

Yo iba con la idea fija de probar los sabores ganadores, y ese día tenían dos de los tres más famosos, que pedí junto al imprescindible chocolate que para mí es fundamental para comparar la calidad de un helado, no siempre hay un helado del chocolate es suficientemente bueno, suelen pecar de tener demasiada azúcar o leche en su receta y eso lo arruina.
El helado de chocolate verdadero, es el que hacen a base de agua. No tengo en contra de los otros pero esos son chocolate con leche u otras golosinas en particular.

En fin, los destacados premiados que pedí eran el muy popular sabor a Galleta de la abuela que fue premiado en 2015 como Mejor Helado de España y el otro sabor era el Sicily Orange Sunrise que ganó en 2017 el Mejor Helado en el Gelato Festival America de California en 2017, este último está hecho con naranjas sanguinas, menta fresca y cardamomo que crean una mezcla bastante y para mi asombro muy gustosa aunque siento que un poco pasado de intensidad porque lo tuve en el paladar toda la tarde.

Los disfrute bastante, para las pocas expectativas en cuanto a calidad que tenía es cierto que salí con mejor impresión de lo que esperaba.

Si es cierto que había cierto deje artificial en el sabor de los helados y un punto más de cremosidad les vendría mejor, pero vuelvo a lo que comentaba al principio, para ser una heladería española está bastante bien.

El chocolate no lo repetiría, no estaba todo lo rico que me hubiese gustado aunque tampoco estaba malo, pero el de café me supo más sabroso.

Yo recomendaría los premiados, han pasado ciertos estándares al haber sido llevados a concursos y eso se nota, además son bastante divertidos.

Recently I was walking around Valencia, a city known for its famous paellas, oranges, beaches and festivals.

Although I enjoyed many of these essentials, I also took the opportunity to check out a very famous ice cream shop that has become famous in recent years for having won several national and international competitions of artisanal ice cream.

I make it clear that I am not going to compare it with Italian ice creams because for that I go to Italy and make a route there, what I can do is to share my impression regarding the quality of good ice creams that can be found in some places in Spain.

First of all, I think the picture reflects my happiness regarding the dimensions of the large ice cream with three flavors, with this particular detail I have no complaints, neither with their small versions of one flavor, adequate quantities and with a fairly standard price for the type of local quite popular.

I always ask for ice cream cones, I love to be able to eat the ice cream cone and also to compare if these are made from scratch and with quality ingredients, these were quite acceptable, with an adequate sweetness but without any particular feature to highlight.

As for the individual ice creams, I was able to try the cappuccino and strawberry flavors, quite successful, with a smooth texture, although the fruit one was a bit crystallized.

I was going with the fixed idea of trying the winning flavors, and that day they had two of the three most famous, which I ordered along with the essential chocolate, which for me is essential to compare the quality of an ice cream, not always a chocolate ice cream is good enough, they usually sin of having too much sugar or milk in their recipe and that ruins it.

The real chocolate ice cream is the one made with water. I'm not against the others but those are chocolate with milk or other particular treats.

Anyway, the award winning standouts I ordered were the very popular Grandma's Cookie flavor which was awarded in 2015 Best Ice Cream in Spain and the other flavor was the Sicily Orange Sunrise which won in 2017 Best Ice Cream at the 2017 Gelato Festival America in California, the latter is made with blood oranges, fresh mint and cardamom which create quite a mix and to my amazement very tasty although I feel a bit overdone in intensity because I had it on my palate all afternoon.

I enjoyed them quite a lot, for the low expectations in terms of quality that I had, it is true that I left with a better impression than I expected.

It's true that there was a certain artificial flavor in the ice cream and a touch more creaminess would be better, but I return to what I said at the beginning, for a Spanish ice cream parlor it's quite good.

I wouldn't repeat the chocolate, it wasn't as tasty as I would have liked, although it wasn't bad either, but the coffee one tasted better to me.

I would recommend the award-winning ones, they have passed certain standards having been taken to competitions and that shows, plus they are quite fun.
