Hello there!, we left Havana yesterday, very soon we will start a great journey, but for now I'm traveling to Gibara, my childhood town to see my mother. Before that I had a stop in Holguín, a city where I lived 8 years.
When I arrived Holguín, I had a mix of happiness and nostalgic, but sadness too, this city used be a madness of people evaryday in their streets, all commerces opened and lot of traffic. Today it looks like an western town from a movie. This phenomena is clear, the migration is getting Cuba empty, the youngest generations are leaving the country looking for opportunities. More than 400K cubans have left between 2022-2023 in a great migration wave.
Very soon the Holguin streets will become more and more desolated, that's the ugly true.
Despite that feelings, we decided to not fall in depression and enjoy some places we loved in the past. Luckely for us we find them opened and we take an amazing lunch and dinner at La casa de la música and Maragato restaurant.
Here are the pictures :)
