I had scheduled a beach and dune run for today, but after a night of -10 C and lots of fresh snow, driving (on summer tires) was not an option for me. Nevertheless, today was such an amazing day! After the intense snowfall we actually got some nice sun! Perfect for some fun in the snow!
The last few days I ran with a similar strategy: find unpaved routes, use trailshoes and focus on having lots of fun.
Where the last few days my runs had been either early morning or evening runs I was able to do a run around lunch time today. This ment that while I still had to consider what could be below the snow and be a little careful with my hamstring, the vision was so much better - I decided to pick up the pace a little and train some zone 3 & low zone 4.
It felt really good to speed up a little bit - without overdoing it. While the zone 1 and zone 2 are priceless in terms of building a strong basis, some zone 3 work is great for your motivation!
Also the satisfaction of getting fresh snow on your knees when running in a little faster pace is hard to describe!
Happy running!
