Hi, hive runners, how are you all doing? Are you still participating in races this December? How many races have you participated in? As for me, I've only participated in two races this year. Due to the increasing cost of race registration this year, I've been thinking twice about participating, because if I continue to participate in these events, I might end up spending all my money, haha.
The Purwokerto Half Marathon that I participated in earlier this year was my first race, in the 10k category. I've already talked about that before. And two weeks ago, I participated in the Tangerang 10k, as my final race of the year.
The Tangerang 10k was held in the center of Tangerang City, only 15 minutes from my house, very close, and I was very excited for this race.
RACEPACK
The day before the race, I went to pick up my race pack. For some reason, the pickup location was farther than the race location, and it took me 30 minutes to get there. Since it was already late afternoon, the line wasn't too long, and I finished quickly. Oh, and donโt forget to scan your BIB and take a photo.
And surprisingly, as the first event organized by Tangerang 10k, the race pack was well-made, from the thick, reusable bag to the generous contents inside.
RACEDAY
On race day, I woke up at 3 a.m. to get ready, because the flag off would start at 5:30. After showering and getting ready, I left for the venue, and it was already crowded there.
I met my other friends and did some warm-ups first. After warming up, I saw a group of my training friends wearing pajamas as their costumes. It was very funny.
After the flag off, I ran at a relaxed pace of 7:37/km. Although the course was not completely closed to traffic and was only divided into two lanes, I thought it was very good because the marshals were quite strict. And while running, I really enjoyed the marshals and the crowd cheering on the runners.
With a total average pace of 9:19/km, I completed 10km in 1:35:38. I think I could have finished in 1:25:00 or 1:30:00, but I enjoyed the event too much. In fact, I felt like this race wasn't a race at all, but more like a weekly training session with friends. Because I was always cheered on by my friends.
After finishing, I received my medal and took photos with one of my old friends whom I hadnโt seen in a long time, as well as with my other friends.
For this race, I finished strong and happy.
See you at my next race next year.
