Hoy les hablaré sobre la oportunidad que tuve de interpretar uno de los mejores solos que se han escrito para mi instrumento (el oboe) de una manera muy personal.
Today I will tell you about the opportunity I had to perform one of the best solos that have been written to my instrument (the oboe) from a personal way.

A través de mi carrera musical he tenido la oportunidad de tocar muchos de los mejores y muy bonitos solos del repertorio oboístico, aquellos donde el instrumento resalta sobre todos los demás.
Throughout my musical career I have had the opportunity of play many of the best and more beautiful solos from the oboistic repertoire, those in which the instrument stands out from others.
Lo raro (y especial) de este solo es que está escrito en un concierto para violín. Brahms hace que el oboe lidere a la sección de maderas en la introducción del segundo movimiento, haciendo así, a mi parecer, una de las más bonitas melodías que luego es tomada y desarrollada por el violín siendo el tema de todo el movimiento.
The weird (and special) fact about this solo is that it is written on a concerto for violin. Brahms makes that the oboe leads the windwood section in the introduction of the second movement, creating this, to me, one of the most beautiful melodies, which then is taken and developed for the violin, being the main theme of the entire movement.
Esta obra de arte es uno de los extractos orquestales que pedirían para ingresar en cualquier orquesta del mundo como oboísta, de hecho, en mi audición para ingresar a la Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar de Venezuela fue uno de los extractos elegidos, por lo que luego de 1 año, tener la oportunidad de hacerlo con la orquesta fue una gran experiencia para mi.
This artwork is one of the orchestral excerpts requested to join any orchestra of the world as an oboist, actually, in my competition to join Simón Bolívar Symphony Orchestra of Venezuela it was one of the chosen excerpts, so after 1 year, having the opportunity to play it with the orchestra was a great experience for me.
Pero así como era una gran experiencia, fue una gran responsabilidad ya que este era uno de mis primeros conciertos como principal de la fila de oboes de la orquesta con tan solo 16 años. Era un repertorio bastante exigente, donde sentía mucho apoyo de parte de mis compañeros, pero también la expectativa llena de responsabilidad, además de la meta personal de hacerlo de la mejor manera posible.
But just as it was a great experience, it was a great responsibility, since this was one of my first concerts as a principal of the oboes section of the orchestra, with only 16 years old. This was a very demanding repertoire, in which I felt many support from my colleagues, but also the expectative full of responsibility, besides my personal goal of doing my best.
Al final, luego de la semana de ensayos, ¡fue un gran concierto! La orquesta y el solista estuvieron excelentes, lo disfruté mucho y pude sentir el cariño del público, y sobre todo, de mis compañeros en la orquesta por el solo.
At the end, after the week of rehearsals, it was a great concert! The orchestra and the soloist were excellent, and I enjoyed it a lot, I could feel the affection from the audience, and above all, from my colleagues of the orchestra, for the solo.

Al final del movimiento, Brahms utiliza nuevamente el tema del principio para unirlo con la melodía del violín y así concluir el movimiento. Disfrútenlo:
In the end of the movement, Brahms uses again the theme from the beginning in order to put it together with the melody of the violin and thus conclude the movement. Enjoy it:
