In the Iftar tradition in Indonesia, we usually eat sweet foods other than dates.
Traditional cakes are available with various choices. You could say the month of Ramadan became a time where traditional cakes are popular again. It's like nostalgia every year.
So on my plate for breaking the fast, there are some sweet cakes wrapped in banana leaves, and cooked by steaming.
In addition to steamed cakes, there are also fried cakes, but with smaller portions.
I bought this cake at a seller near my house. Quite happy to be able to help sellers get money at times like this.
I also did not mind buying several types of cakes at once because I was still able to save money by cooking the main food menu.
This is called NAGASARI. Cakes made from rice flour is cooked until thickened, then when cooked, wrapped in banana leaves.
Nagasari is also filled with banana slices. That is what characterizes this NAGASARI cake.
Next, there is a BUGIS cake. a mixture of glutinous rice flour mixed with sweet potatoes and has grated coconut stuffed with brown sugar.
Then there is PUTU AYU. This is a sweet steamed cake made from multipurpose flour and sprinkled with grated coconut.
For fried cakes, this is a mung bean cake that is fried in a flour dressing.
Those were some sweet cakes for my Iftar. Always prioritize simplicity and help others.
