Eid-ul-Fitr came again with the message of peace and friendship. After a long month of fasting, Muslims will celebrate their highest religious festival, Eid-ul-Fitr today. Eid-ul-Fitr actually depends on the sighting of the moon. So, it is celebrated on different days in different countries. We Bangladeshis are celebrating Eid-ul-Fitr today because we saw the moon yesterday.
This year's Eid is quite different from other years. The main attraction of Eid-ul-Fitr is to offer Eid prayers in congregation very early in the morning. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, most people are praying at home this year. Although Eid congregations have been held in several mosques, those are on a very small scale. The custom in Eid prayers is to hug everyone after the prayers, but this year it is highly prohibited to stop the spreading of coronavirus. The only thing is sitting at home and eating delicious dishes.
In my case, it is the less enjoyable Eid of my life. Usually, every Eid we brothers, sisters and parents get together and celebrate Eid festival. This year my parents are stuck in our village house and I am celebrating Eid in Dhaka with my children. My children are not able to enjoy this Eid very much because they are under lockdown.
My daughter is busy decorating the house on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. Although I helped her by buying the necessary things from outside, she did the main work. She decorated the house with different types of colored paper, ribbons and balloons. After decorating the house I saw that she is not a very bad decorator, although she is only ten years old.
On the occasion of Eid, everyone cooks good food on this day. My wife has also cooked some traditional food on this occasion. On the morning of Eid, everyone likes to eat sweets. Several heavy meals have been arranged in the afternoon. All these foods were quite tasty. Sharing few pictures of those.
Last but not the least, we hope the excitement and joy of this Eid will bring the strength to move forward. We will see a coronavirus free world and enjoy Eid like previous.
