If you have deactivated and/or eventually deleted your facebook account after using the platform for a while sharing your personally identifiable information or perhaps even anonymously, what made you stop using it. Did you manage to stay off it so far or something made you log back in after a period of absence?
I mean there are a number of reasons; privacy issues, data mining, manipulation of our behaviours, psychological strain and im sure the list of negative impact can go on. The algos used keeps evolving to bring users back and keep them addicted to platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Tik Tok and others anytime they decide to leave.
Documentaries like The Social Dilemma are a good explainer to the extent of the impact of these platforms in our lives. If you are unaware of the impact of this tech then maybe its worth looking into first. Does the few positive use cases for these platforms justify their larger direct and indirect impact?
