Slack Line Setup, Scouts

Now that it is warming up and Spring is here it's time to get the yard setup for the boys for summer. I put up the trampoline the day before and had a couple of short slacklines up. Yesterday I got my long line setup between trees in the area of the trampoline. I don't set it close though as I am not wanting the boys sling shotting each other onto the trampoline with the slackline. On each end I have heavy wire loops around the trees from my prior years of slack line setups. I used a heavy steel carabiner and a shackle to attach it on the one end.

On the other end I had to use a standard ratchet strap instead of the slackline one. The slackline one has a loop in the webbing to cinch it around a tree but I have the wire to hook to so needed a ratchet with the hook. It is a good bit harder to tighten it as tight as with the slackline ratchet since it has an extended handle. I made due using a pry bar to extend the handle.

It runs near my old truck but that will help the boys to learn to walk on it while having a hand on the truck.

Part of putting the line up was to move the chipper out of the way since it was really close as well. If I want to put up more lines I needed it out of the way as well.

Part of my day was spent roaming the house trying to find the supplies for the scout meeting. I had some ideas for games they could play and it took a while to gather everything up and remember where it all was around the farm.

We started off with canning jar ring toss at a 5 gallon bucket with clothes pins on the rim. Then after that we got them trying to learn to throw cards which a couple of the boys got pretty good at quickly. They had the most fun with the ping pong ball table races where they raced along the table trying to be the first to blow the ball off the other end of the table without it falling from the side.

Of everything they seemed to have the most fun with this. We got a good half hour of them playing it which took us past our meeting time.

First thing in the morning yesterday I went out for another mile run and improved my time from the prior day. Slowly but surely I will get my ass back in shape. I am going out again this morning then this afternoon the boys have dentist appointments. I'm working on the wiring for the studio still and the standard attempts to clean will be made.
