Aquí les traigo la segunda parte del post que titulé "Como imaginaban que sería el futuro" En esta ocasión me referiré a las personas que vivían a inicios y mediados del siglo XX, cual era su visión del siglo XXI en varios aspectos, cuales eran sus predicciones. Sigue leyendo y te prometo que pasarás un buen rato.
Hi Hivers, how are you? Here I bring you the second part of the post that I titled "How they imagined the future would be". On this occasion I will refer to the people who lived in the early and mid-20th century, what was their vision of the 21st century in various aspects, what were their predictions. Keep reading and I promise you will have a good time.
A principio del siglo XX las personas estaban muy entusiasmadas con la aparición del radio y por lo tanto tenían muchas expectativas al respecto, por esta razón no era raro que dejaran volar la imaginación al pensar en todo lo que podrían hacer con él. Resulta obvio que ellos no imaginaban lo peligroso que era este elemento.
At the beginning of the 20th century, people were very excited about the appearance of radio and therefore had many expectations about it, for this reason it was not uncommon for them to let their imagination run wild when thinking about everything they could do with it. It's obvious that they didn't imagine how dangerous this element was.
Chimeneas radioactivas/Radioactive fireplaces
En esta ilustración de Jean-Marc Côté, el artista que pintó ésta junto con varias otras imágenes que hoy en día se encuentran en la Biblioteca Nacional de Francia, se muestra la escena de un grupo de personas frente a una chimenea, pero no una común y corriente (recuerden que es una chimenea del futuro) ésta no contiene leña ordinaria que siempre termina ensuciando la alfombra, no, esta chimenea contiene radio, ésa es su fuente de calor. ¡Cielos! ¿Se imaginan el peligro al que se hubiesen expuesto las personas si esto hubiese sido posible?
In this illustration by Jean-Marc Côté, the artist who painted this one along with several other images now in the National Library of France, the scene of a group of people in front of a fireplace is shown, but not a common one. and current (remember that it's a fireplace of the future) this doesn't contain ordinary firewood that always ends up dirtying the carpet, no, this fireplace contains radio, that is its source of heat. Tanques de guerra eléctricos/ Electric War Tanks
En 1916 estaba en pleno apogeo la primera guerra mundial, iniciada en 1914, por lo tanto no era de extrañar que la mentalidad de las personas estuviese enfocada a como conseguir la manera más efectiva de proteger sus naciones. De esta manera, la revista The Electrical Experimenter, mostró en su portada el dibujo de un prototipo de una especie de tanque de guerra que en lugar de utilizar combustible, requería de electricidad, algo totalmente innovador y revolucionario para esa época.
By 1916 the First World War was in full swing, which started in 1914, therefore it was not surprising that the mentality of the people was focused on how to achieve the most effective way to protect their nations. In this way, the magazine The Electrical Experimenter, showed on its cover the drawing of a prototype of a kind of war tank that instead of using fuel, required electricity, something totally innovative and revolutionary for that time.

No hay dudas de que en el pasado muchas personas soñaban con llevar estilos de vida muy sedentarios, pues pensaban que en el futuro podrías hacer varias cosas sin salir de tu cama (y de alguna forma esto es cierto ya que podemos hasta hacer las compras usando el teléfono o el internet) No obstante, en 1932, un diario llamado San Antonio Light, publicó una ilustración que muestra a un hombre acostado en una especie de cama inteligente mientras mueve una palanca que acciona un mecanismo para servirse el desayuno. Además tiene un robot que se encarga de traerle la ropa.
There is no doubt that in the past, many people dreamed of living very sedentary lifestyles because they thought that in the future you could do various things without getting out of bed (and in some way this is true since we can even do shopping using the telephone or the internet) However, in 1932, a newspaper called San Antonio Light, published an illustration that shows a man lying on a kind of smart bed while moving a lever that operates a mechanism to serve himself breakfast. En 1950, una empresa estadounidense dio a conocer un dispositivo que recuerda a un teléfono celular de hoy en día. Contaba con dos caras, por una de ellas tenía botones para accionar sus funciones, y en la otra, una pantalla a color donde podríamos ver a nuestro interlocutor. Desde que el teléfono se inventó, la humanidad siempre soñó con ir más allá.
In 1950, an American company unveiled a device reminiscent of a modern-day cell phone. It had two faces, on one of them it had buttons to activate its functions and on the other one, a color screen where we could see our interlocutor. Ever since the telephone was invented, humanity always dreamed of going further.

En 1957, la empresa Hughes desarrolló el prototipo de un aparato electrónico que permitía realizar llamadas y al mismo tiempo observar al interlocutor a través de una pantalla. No obstante, el proyecto tuvo que ser dado de baja debido a los altos costes.
In 1957, the Hughes company developed the prototype of an electronic device that made it possible to make calls and at the same time observe the interlocutor through a screen. However, the project had to be decommissioned due to high costs.

Es impresionante las cosas que el ser humano imaginó que podrían existir hace muchos años, algunas de ellas son altamente ambiciosas, por no decir inverosímiles, pero en cambio hubo otras que sí llegamos a desarrollar y a perfeccionar, por esta misma razón no debería parecernos descabelladas las ideas que muchas personas tienen hoy en día acerca de nuestro futuro, pues probablemente, más temprano que tarde podrían dejar de ser solo ideas y prototipos para volverse realidad.
The things that mankind imagined that could exist many years ago are impressive, some of them are highly ambitious, not to say implausible, but instead there were others that we did develop and perfect, for this very reason it should not seem far-fetched. ideas that many people have today about our future, because probably, sooner rather than later they could stop being just ideas and prototypes to become reality.
Comida impresa en 3D/3D printed food
Este proyecto fue presentado en Brucelas y aunque hoy en día ya existe, solo unas cuantas personas tienen acceso a esta nueva método. No obstante se cree que en el futuro este dispositivo será tan popular en los hogares de todo el mundo como lo es el refrigerador o el televisor, y que su uso será tan sencillo como descargar de internet los platillos de los chef más famosos. ¿Se imaginan que podamos comer lo que preparan en Master Chef?
This project was presented at Brucelas and although it already exists today, only a few people have access to this new method. However, it's believed that in the future this device will be as popular in homes around the world as the refrigerator or television and that its use will be as simple as downloading the dishes of the most famous chefs from the Internet. Can you imagine that we can eat what they prepare in Master Chef?
Hologramas/Holograms
La vida cotidiana se transformará en muchos sentidos, sobre todo después de esta pandemia que ha azotado al mundo, por lo tanto necesitamos una manera de estar conectados de una forma más realista y presencial, sin salir de nuestras casas.
Daily life will be transformed in many ways, especially after this pandemic that has hit the world, therefore we need a way to be connected in a more realistic and face-to-face way, without leaving our homes.
Los hologramas ya existen desde hace algún tiempo, incluso se han utilizado para grandes espectáculos.
Holograms have been around for some time, they have even been used for big shows.
Pero en el futuro se cree que podremos transportar nuestra propia imagen a cualquier parte de mundo para generar la sensación de «presencia» de una forma más efectiva y fácil (todos podremos hacerlo)

Personalmente opino que es un poco desalentador que algunos estén pensando en el planeta Marte como una opción para vivir, ya que eso podría significar que, en el futuro, nuestro planeta se habrá destruido, lo cual no es algo raro de pensar, tomando en cuenta el desequilibrio ecológico que hay debido al mal uso de los recursos naturales.
Personally I think it's a bit discouraging that some are thinking of the planet Mars as an option to live, since that could mean that in the future our planet will have been destroyed, which is not something strange to think, taking into account the imbalance ecological due to the misuse of natural resources.
Me parece genial que dejemos volar nuestra imaginación con respecto a como será nuestro futuro en el planeta tierra, pero también creo que debemos idear nuevas formas para preservarlo y poder vivir a plenitud en armonía con la naturaleza y nosotros mismos.
I think it's great that we let our imaginations fly regarding what our future will be like on planet earth, but I also believe that we must devise new ways to preserve it and be able to live fully in harmony with nature and ourselves.
