Greetings, my dear friends of Hive, I hope you are feeling very well. For me, these days have been a bit busy because of the holidays, besides, I have felt little inspired to draw, but, I didn't want laziness or lack of inspiration to dominate me, so I committed myself to present you something for today. That's how this illustration was born:
Well, you won't believe how many shades I made this drawing with?
Shall I give you a hint?
Only three: yellow, blue and red. Together, better known as primary colors.
Some time ago I was experimenting with making my works using only those colors, by then it was easier for me to do it with acrylic paints because of its density and fast drying that helps not to mix completely the colors when juxtaposing them.
Next, the step by step:
1/4
2/4
3/4
4/4
As inspiration, I based again on a selfie style photograph of me (with a few modifications), using one of the filters of the Snapchat social network. I found it interesting to draw this character, because it is not easy to achieve a good result in the facial expression when you are smiling, crying, or making a face. I still have to practice, however I feel proud to try, at least.
Another point to mention is that when I finished giving color to the drawing, I used a fine black marker to draw the division lines between the face and the hair. The lineart is usually placed before coloring a drawing, however, when working with watercolors, these could dilute the ink already drawn and would be a disaster.
Drawing materials:
-Strathmore watercolor paper.
-Watercolors.
-Denwert watercolors.
-Black marker 0.5mm.
That's all for today, thank you very much for your support so far, if you want to see more of my drawings, I leave you the links of my last two posts:
