This is the continuation of the Social Lens series.
Why 'Social Lens'?
It is called Social, because I am interested in everything related to humanity, how people live and act, what we do consciously and unconsciously, how we effect the world around us and treat one another.
Lens in this context refers to -- wait for it -- the lens of the camera I will be using to take the pictures of what I am seeing (that at least is pretty obvious...), but it also refers to my viewpoint - everything I watch and see is observed through my eyes. There isn't really a way around that of course, and as long as one is aware of that it shouldn't be much of a problem. After all, life is experienced individually and every point of view can add to the greater whole.
Masks have defined the last 2 years
They have been the face of the pandemic. And the faces are now literally changed by them.
I almost couldn't believe it after I looked at the shoot today, but this man's face here is almost torn up by the constant mask wearing. The line in the face is of the straps of the mask and it is also visible on his nose. He wasn't wearing a mask at the moment which shows even more how these lines have almost become permanent.
The lines can be explained when seen how tight some people wear them. It wouldn't surprise me if this woman's face looked just as bad underneath it.
But often the masks are not worn according to offer good protection. In fact, if worn like this the limited protection they offer is completely counteracted by the contact with the hands which regularly move it around the face.
I'll leave you with more impressions!
It is interesting how many people are still wearing masks outside now almost 2 weeks after the mandates have been lifted here. How will this behavior evolve in the coming weeks and months?
Stay tuned for a maskless impression in the next post
Note: If the picture(s) in this post depicts yourself or someone you know and you want it removed, please let me know and I will remove it. As street photography is considered to be an art form in my country it enables artists to publish pictures of people in public places.
