Hello to all the members of this community, as it is well known the economic situation that Venezuela is going through at the present time is very hard and although government spokesmen have publicly stated that hyperinflation has been reduced significantly the effects are still devastating for all sectors of Venezuelan society. One of the hardest hit sectors has been the agricultural sector, so much so that food production levels have decreased exponentially due to the fact that there is no investment in this sector by the Venezuelan government at the present time. (BTC).
It is important to mention that during the mandate of the late President Hugo Chávez, this sector was privileged with a lot of investment through millionaire credits for small and medium producers, this with the firm purpose of promoting food production in the country, but the lack of control of these credits to the beneficiaries brought about the misuse of these funds and therefore a very important economic loss for the country. At present, the agricultural sector, including agribusiness, is far below the food production required to supply national consumption.
One of the most important problems for this sector is the lack of diesel fuel, which is indispensable to carry out all the necessary tasks for food production, in addition to the electricity problem that undoubtedly gives a hard blow to the agro-industrial sector, preventing it from carrying out its basic operations. In addition to this, the importation of agricultural products also impacts the producers, since the little they are able to produce does not allow them to compete with these imports. For example, vegetables in the Venezuelan countryside have been affected by the flood of this product from Colombia, which arrives at a low cost and they cannot compete with it.
At present, it is estimated that in order to recover the Venezuelan agricultural sector, an investment greater than or equal to 1.5 billion dollars per year is required, a considerable sum of money that is not within the reach of the producers, which is why it is necessary for the Venezuelan government to resume investment in this sector in order to bring the necessary food to the table of every Venezuelan home. But in the same way, audits of the beneficiaries of credits must be established for the faithful fulfillment of the agricultural credits that may be granted.
Venezuela has all the necessary potential to become again the number one food producing country, we have qualified lands for the sowing of any crop, besides having very important livestock areas that only require a little attention. For example, the state must once again guarantee the agricultural sector all the necessary inputs for the Venezuelan agricultural field to flourish again and thus increase food production and therefore the economic recovery that would undoubtedly alleviate the lives of Venezuelans.
