Do you know the anime "Fist of the North Star?"　When I was a child, this was a very popular cartoon that was broadcast on TV.　It is based on a manga, but since it became an animated series, it has become very popular, especially among elementary and junior high school students.　When I think about it now, quite a few cruel scenes appeared in the anime, and I am sure that it is now an 18-rated anime.　However, the popularity of this anime was so great at the time that I remember playing with it at school, imitating the main character Kenshiro and his group of friends and enemies.

Hearing that there was a life-size figurine model of Kenshiro, the main character of the series, I went to Kaiyodo Hobby Land in Osaka.

"Figurines (so-called Action Figures)" are very familiar toys in Japan.　These are toys in the form of dolls of popular anime and manga characters. And, popular anime and manga characters of the time are made into figurines (action figures) and produced, which are then used to play with friends.　These action figures are not popular anymore, I've heard, but when I was a child, playing with figurines with friends was very popular, and I have fond memories of playing with my friends.

Kaiyodo Hobby Land Osaka, has many such displays of old action figures.

I was very impressed to see a life-size Kenshiro, but there were also many other characters from my favorite anime and manga on display, and I was quite excited to see them.

I was really excited to see a figurine of Pygmon, a monster I loved as a child.

What I found interesting about the exhibit was that KAIYODO staff regularly held workshops where they applied colors directly to the figurines, and they seemed to explain how they applied the colors to the figurines.　I thought it would be fun to participate in such events.

「北斗の拳」というアニメを知っていますか？わたしが子供の頃、テレビで放映されていてとても人気のあったアニメです。　原作は漫画なのですが、それがアニメ放映されるようになってから、小学生や中学生を中心にとても人気のでたアニメです。今考えると結構、残酷なシーンも登場して、きっと今では１８禁のアニメになっていると思います。　しかし、当時のこのアニメの人気ぶりはすごくて、わたしも学校で主人公のケンシロウのもの前や、仲間の物まねをして遊んだ思い出があります。

その主人公であるケンシロウの等身大のフィギアモデルがあると聞いて、大阪にある海洋堂ホビーランドに行ってみました。

日本ではとてもなじみ深いおもちゃに、「フィギア」があります。　これは人形の形をしたおもちゃなのですが、その時人気のあるアニメや漫画のキャラクターがフィギアにされて生産され、それを使って友達と遊びます。　もう今ではこういった遊びもしなくなったようなのですが、わたしが子供の頃はフィギアで遊ぶのがとても人気があって、よく友達と遊んだ思い出があります。

海洋堂ホビーランドにはそういった、昔のアクションフィギアの展示がたくさんあります。

等身大のケンシロウに会えたのはとても感動したのですが、そのほかにもたくさんわたしの好きなアニメや漫画のキャラクターが展示されていて、かなりテンションが上がりながら見学することが出来ました。

子供の頃好きだった、怪獣であるピグモンのフィギアに出会えたのはまじでテンション上がりました。

展示で面白いなと思ったのが、フィギアに直接色を塗る作業を海洋堂の職員が定期的に開催していて、どの様にフィギアに色を塗るか解説しているようでした。　そういったイベントに参加するのもまた楽しいだろうなと思いました。
