The dough for cakes is simple to make, here in my town they sell it in several places. This dough is striking to buy or make, because you can quickly make a breakfast, snack or dinner with it.
For my part, it is the first time that I make it this way, but I can say that everyone was delighted with the taste and crunchy texture of the cake that I made based on this dough.!
In other countries, I do not know what they can call it, I do not know what kind of scope this publication has, but here in my country (Venezuela) they call it "ready dough" and the final assembly "cakes".
One of the positive aspects of this dough is that when assembling the cakes; you can fill whatever you want. Whether sweet or salty. In my case, today I will present some, with cheese filling and mortadella.
Without further ado, let's go to the kitchen!

Ingredients:
For the mass
- 500 gr of wheat flour, all-purpose type.
- 2 tablespoons of oil.
- 1 teaspoon salt.
- 260 ml of water, boiling.
To assemble the cakes:
- Filling: Cheese and mortadella (optional)
- Oil for frying.

Preparation:
Let's start, preparing the dough
A.- We weigh the 500 gr of flour, see figure 1. We place this in a large bowl for greater comfort. Then, we add the teaspoon of salt and mix. See figure 2. Now, we add the two tablespoons of oil and mix. These mixes can be made with a fork, they don't need a mixer or a big tool. Finally, we will add the boiling water. See figure 4. It really must be boiling, to achieve the desired result.
B.- Stir with a fork. See figure 5. When this has lowered the temperature a little, and we can knead manually, we will do it. We knead a few minutes and make a small ball. See figure 6. This, we let it rest for 30 minutes there in the bowl, covered with a cloth.
C.- After resting, we spread the dough well on a surface without texture. This dough should be as thin as possible, the thinner the layer, the crisper the cakes will be. With a cutter, we will make the cuts for the cake discs. See figure 7. The discs will be stacked, and as separators I have used plastic bags. See figures 8 and 9. Normally the ready dough packages come in versions of 20, 30 and 50 discs.
This dough, you can make it in quantities. Then store in the refrigerator. In my case, I do not have a refrigerator and therefore, I have to prepare it only the day I consume it.
Assembling the cakes:
A.- So we have what is cheese and mortadella. See figure 1. We place a bit of both in the middle of the cake disk. See figure 2. We join both sides of the disk, closing. We pass with a fork along the edge and seal. This step, in addition to being ideal for sealing, adds a nice edge. See figure 3. In a saucepan with hot oil, fry on both sides. See figure 4. You must be very vigilant, it is a dough that burns or toasts quickly, the ideal is a quick pass through the oil.
