We visited one of our regular eating places, Caudwell's Mill Cafe that is set in an old working flour mill and is powered by water from the River Wye. There is also a gift shop and a few artisan shops in the cobbled courtyard. Not great for wheelchair users or children's buggies but it's an old place so they wouldn't have thought about access in those days. I can remember it was trial and error getting my late mum into the cafe in one piece (as well as myself!)
In the background, there is Peak Tor which is a small hill with trees around the top. It is the site of an ancient settlement.
The cafe is totally vegetarian. Being a vegetarian myself, it's great because I can have anything off the menu instead of a few usual suspects. I had homity pie (which is basically vegetables). I also had a salad and red cabbage. I must confess the steamed red cabbage didn't smell great but surprisingly tasted really nice.
My brother had mushroom soup with bread on the side, with a bit of garnish on the top.
We had a couple of swirly lattes to wash it all down with. They do make a good coffee. I would like to say at this point, that after the caffeine, we walked to the top of the hill. We didn't, so I can't. 😁
