I visit my favourite village of Ashover quite often to go walking. However, even though I've walked past this cafe many times, I've never popped in until today.

While we were in there, someone popped in for a newspaper. Apparently, the owners of the post office wanted to keep it open as other post offices were having to close down. To secure the business, the owners started a coffee shop within the post office. What a great idea! So, now the villages can either pop in for a drink and a bite to eat, post a letter, or buy a newspaper!

To add to all that there is holiday accommodation upstairs. Of course, it made sense to call the cafe STAMP. I liked that they had the original sign in the shop. A piece of history.

The decor had a post office theme. There were pictures of stamps on the wall and ....

.... the seat cushions had postage stamps on them. I also loved the Halloween decorations. It is one of my favourite times of the year. I love all things spooky so I didn't mind sharing a table with a pumpkin!

After perusing the menu, we had a veggie fry up, eggs royale, smoked salmon, hollandaise sauce and lattes.

Coffee and food were delicious in a nice friendly setting. It was nice to go somewhere new and receive a warm welcome in a little village. As a lot of businesses are closing it was good to know another one has been saved.
