It was mid-week. After a half day of classes, I decided to head in town for lunch. I had planned on going to a cafe I hadn’t been in a long time. I like it there because the meals are balanced, the staff, friendly and the atmosphere, very relaxing. There, I’m able to clear my thoughts and not worry about my food intake. Haha.
I was about a 10-minute walk away from my intended location when I decided to stop by Cafe Comfort.
Interestingly, I’ve always passed by this cafe. I’ve walked by for years but never noticed that they had water drip coffee, neither did I know exactly what it was. Was this new?
I must admit that since becoming a member of Cinnamon Coffee Cup, I’ve been more on the look out for things- coffee but somehow, things-coffee just seem to be popping up all around. Haha! I know, coffee shops are common but I’m convinced that Cafe Comfort recently got their water drip equipment. How is it that I just noticed it? It’s a regular route that I take. The beauty about the cafe is that it’s doors and “walls” are transparent. Even from the outside, you get a feeling that you’re inside. It was quite welcoming.
I stood outside for a while looking at the equipment and checking out their menu items. I was there long enough for the staff to think I’d be dining there. I thought going in would have been the polite thing to do. By that time too, I was really hungry, was already tired and realized saving myself a 10-minute walk for a first-time experience, wasn’t necessarily a bad idea.
I of course noticed that they had English menu available. That’s always a plus. A hungry-girl needs to know exactly what she’s eating. Lol! In all fairness, pictures of the menu items were clearly displayed so a language barrier would not have been a problem.
Cafe Comfort specializes in waffles. I checked them out but was thinking more of lunch than dessert.
So, in I went. I was happy to get a closer view of the equipment but it was difficult to get a good shot as from inside, I was also able to clearly see outside and there were many passersby. I didn’t want others to think I was taking a shot of them. It was also easy to block other customers based on the positioning of the equipment. I got a few shots and zoomed in on the label which read, “Arabica Blend”.
Being a tea-lover, there’s so much I could learn about tea itself. There’s far more I could learn about coffee. I know the smell, I know the look, I’m familiar with Blue Mountain Coffee because it’s from my island home-Jamaica. I know the taste but I honestly don’t often drink it. Put it this way, I wouldn’t be the one you hear talking about different beans and quality of coffee. I’d be more on the listening or googling end. Lol!
That being said, seeing arabica blend, sent me researching. I learned that arabica coffee is the most popular kind and that the blend is a combination of robusta coffee and arabica coffee. I also learned a bit about its history. You can see more about it below:

My Order
For lunch, I ordered a set that had salad, rice omelette, dessert and tea. Yes, tea. I was captivated by the waterdrip equipment. I thought it was really cool but tea really comforts me. You can imagine how I felt when I made up my mind to have coffee mixed with one of my favorite teas, but missed the special.

The salad was small and cute. It consisted of radish, carrot and lettuce. I had to make sure none fell to the table. I carefully ate it. Lol!
I had tea with milk. The rice omelette was delicious. The sauce had a few mushrooms in it. Spoon by spoon, I had it until my plate was clear.
For dessert, there was a small serving of vanilla ice cream with berry sauce and a lotus cookie. It was good but just half or a quarter of the berry sauce would have been enough.
When I had stopped by Cafe Comfort a few weeks ago, they had a winter fair special. They had purple sweet potato cocoa waffle and white chocolate honey ginger cafe au lait among other items. The names of some items are really long. Should I order, I’d just point on the item. It’s a lot of tongue-work. Lol!
I recently passed by again and saw that they now have a strawberry fair special. Some of the items are, strawberry butter waffle, strawberry pudding a la mode and “plenty of strawberry waffle”. By the sound of the latter, we can tell that there just aren’t a few berries.
Specials are such a big thing in Japan. You either catch them or miss them. One thing you can’t avoid, is seeing them.
Lunch at Cafe Comfort was delicious. It was a good dining experience. I enjoy trying out cafes and it had so much to offer.
Have you had waterdrip coffee?
What’s your preference of coffee?
What would be your order from the strawberry fair?
