Hello everyone and all members of Cinnamon Cup Coffee Community, how are you friends today? I hope and pray that all of us are always given health, happiness and ease in living this life. Healthy and happy is very important, we can go anywhere we want. Like this time, I have the opportunity and time to go to a coffee shop in my city. Visiting coffee shops and tasting coffee from these coffee shops has been my hobby for the past few years.
Some time ago, I got info from a friend of mine about a coffee shop that has cool vibes, interesting architecture and special coffee flavors. I was interested in hearing my friend's promotion method, I finally visited the coffee shop last week.
Elixir Coffee Roastery and Space – Bali Vibes Caffe
This coffee shop is located at Waringin Street no. 13 Medan Petisah District – Medan City. The location is very strategic because it is close to the city center, schools and offices. This coffee shop is one that carries the concept of "Bali Vibes", which makes every visitor who comes will feel the experience of drinking coffee as if in Bali.
The owner of this coffee shop is named Tony Wijaya, I had a short chat with the owner (unfortunately no one has documented it) about the concept of this coffee shop. According to him, he wanted to create a coffee shop since 2019 but the plan was delayed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the owner of this coffee shop spent a lot of time in Bali. According to him, it is more comfortable to do a regional quarantine in Bali, when compared to Medan City. After his return from Bali, he realized his desire to open a coffee shop with a concept like this. This coffee shop is relatively new, opening September 2021 and is the choice of many people in my city to enjoy an afternoon here. To get experience and tranquility, I came in the afternoon to this coffee shop, because I can freely take photos without disturbing other visitors.
Aesthetic and Authentic
This coffee shop is surrounded by shophouses 3-4 floors high and when you enter this coffee shop you will feel a different atmosphere that is fresh and chic. We're going to see a very catchy big Elixir Coffee Roastery and Space lettering on a white wall. We will enter a small stone door with a path.
There are many interesting spots that we can choose from here. If you want to sit back and relax while taking pictures, you can choose to sit on a bamboo chair while looking at the beautiful fish pond. Wooden ornaments also help the outdoor part of this coffee shop come alive. I also like the decoration of the ethnic umbrellas that are displayed as a sun barrier for the tables and chairs in the outdoor area.
Elixir Coffee Roastery and Space is very efficient in using all of its places to be seats and tables but still at a comfortable distance. Many viral and popular coffee shops do not pay attention to the seating position of visitors who are too close. In addition, this coffee shop uses a lot of green plants to beautify this coffee shop. The use of plants and flowers is very important to give the impression of "cool" and "fresh" in a coffee shop or café.
If the outdoor area of this coffee shop is suitable for activities with friends and family, the indoor part of this coffee shop has a different impression. The place is very quiet, chilled (of course), and is perfect for work or study. I love the combination of the floor color with the wall color it looks very warm and soothing. Moreover, the furniture used in the indoor area is made of wood so that it spoils our eyes even more. Don't forget, in the indoor section we can see directly the process of making the coffee we are going to drink.
Ice Americano Again
Initially, I was interested in drinking ice coffee late but the barista of this coffee shop offered me to try the signature espresso from this coffee shop. According to the barista, Elixir Coffee Shop uses signature coffee beans from three different regions to make espresso. The coffee beans used are from Gayo (Aceh), Lintong (Dolok Sanggul – North Sumatra), and Mandailing (North Sumatra), we usually know this coffee blend with Sumatra Blend.
Americano is a signature coffee that is made from espresso and hot water in a ratio of 1:3 or 1:4. The history of the Americano is confusing, but the most popular story is about American soldiers during World War II who felt the Italian espresso was too strong and tried to reduce it by adding water. For me, Americano is the most appropriate way to judge the coffee menu in a coffee shop.
Ice Americano from Elixir Coffee Roastery and Space uses a plastic cup when served. Plastic cups are popularly used by coffee shops today, because they are more practical and inexpensive. Moreover, the current trend of drinking coffee is ice coffee with the take and go concept, so coffee drinkers can still drink coffee while walking around with the cup. This coffee shop has a policy to collect all these plastic cups and when it has collected a lot it will be given to collectors and the money becomes additional for the workers there.
I love the taste of this Ice Americano, probably one of the tastiest coffees I've had this July. The taste of the coffee is very fitting, not too sour, a little bitter but very refreshing and smooth on our tongue. The addition of ice does not make the taste of this coffee watery but still balances with the coffee. This Ice Americano also makes our inspiration and enthusiasm come out more.
Okay, this is my story this time. See you on my trips to other coffee shops in the future. Have a Nice Day!!!
Call me Isdarmady, because I have a full name that is very long, namely Isdarmady Syahputra Ritonga. I am a head of the family who work as Farmers Vegetables Hydroponic and Consultant Hydroponics, sometimes I also sell coffee from various regions in Indonesia.
