Why do I love Coffee?
What a question!
I cannot start my day if I have not had my cup of REAL coffee; love the aroma when I first pour hot water onto the ground coffee beans in my little plunger, let it rest and then give it a stir which releases all the flavour!
My day simply is not the same if I have not had that cup of coffee; so my plunger travels with me if we go away as I cannot drink even the best instant variety!
I think you could call me a coffee snob and I would not deny that;)
My Favourite Coffee Drink
No guessing when you see my collection of pics taken over the last couple of years; I have to take a pic if it's beautifully made before destroying it!
The answer of course is a Cappuccino - I just love that shot of espresso, a dash of hot milk, topped with a rich and creamy dense foam in the most stunning designs.
The First Time I fell in love with Coffee
As a child, I first fell in love with the aroma coming from the coffee beans being roasted by my Oupa (Grandpa); he did this by patiently stirring those raw coffee beans in a black pan on an old coal stove; then he would grind it in an old coffee grinder by hand.
I loved the smell, but when I first tasted it, must admit it was way too strong for a wee little gal like me as Oupa used to drink it black and with no sugar!
Then he poured me a cup, filled it with hot milk and dark brown sugar, served it with a rusk, a typical South African kind of Biscotti that one dunks in the coffee to soften it a little and I was hooked!
What future do I see me having with Coffee?
It will be a continued love affair, in fact the love will just grow stronger and the taste buds will become more discerning, so I guess you will find me either looking at that new little coffee roastery that everyone's raving about or I'll be sitting in a coffee shop that knows how to make the very best Cappuccino!
I will even hunt them down on the beaches.
I'ts way past bedtime but I can guarantee that if I get a whiff of a good Cappuccino, I will risk having a sleepless night as I now am craving a cuppa after seeing all my Coffee pics again!
