"I still make my coffee the way you made it."
Says the message with this photo, from my girlfriend Jana in the Netherlands, as I woke up this morning.
These have got to be some of the sweetest words and feelings you can have besides waking up early, at sunrise : ), and I'm eagerly waiting for my kettle to whistle.
Good Morning Hive!
Rain continues as the sun sneakily peeps out every now and then, but the weather is still hot :), so I won't complain!
Ahead of me today is a busy schedule as I've been clearing, downsizing, and actually reducing my possessions to the size of my suitcase and backpack...
Before I move a muscle though, I'll kickstart my engine with a nice cup of coffee.
Today I'm in need of a strong coffee š, so I'll be using my French Press to make a black coffee instead.
Isn't that creamy one above lovely? That's how I always used to make my coffee, but now, I've gone black!
How I make a good cup of French Press Coffee:
Steps:
Decide how many cups of coffee you would like. I'll be having just one cup of coffee, from my 16 oz / 473 ml French Press.
š” It is better to grind your coffee fresh right before brewing, but since I'm no longer in possession of a coffee grinder, I'll be using my ground coffee from a canister.
Also, play around with the size of the coffee grind, but it's recommended to use coarser coffee in the French Press, and finer coffee grains in an Espresso or Drip machine.
- Put the kettle on
- Place the french press on a flat surface, your counter/bench is ideal!
- Hold the cup firmly by the handle with one hand, using your other hand to gently remove the plunger
- Add a heaping tablespoon of coffee (for this 16 oz / 473ml size french press)
It should look something like this.
Place the container flat on the counter, and pour hot water to the fill line (in line with the silver ring)
- Leave the water to sit for 4 minutes, this is a good time for the coffee to brew.
- Gently and slowly, plunge the press to the bottom of the container.
Optional, some persons might skim off some of the coffee now that the brew is ready, before plunging it. I tend to skip that option.
- Then I pour the pressed brewed coffee into my mug, and enjoy.
- N.B. If you have a small tea strainer, you could place it over your coffee mug before pouring. This is good for eliminating any traces of coffee grains.
There are varied ways of using the French Press, but this technique works superb for me.
My coffee is strong, smooth and very tasty.
A GREAT way to start my day! āļø
Have a lovely day Peeps!
