I have been MIA for over a week due to our move to a long-term permanent residence in the hillsides of Bajos de Chila on the eastern coast of Mexico.
Settling into our place I think i slept for almost 3 days straight. It was like my body and mind were finally at peace and we have arrived home.
After my much needed rest, I had a spur of the moment impulse - to fast on coconut water for 3 days. We were getting fresh coconut water from a Mexican named Nacho who would deliver jugs of aqua de coco and crema de coco up the hills to our residence.
Now I usually prepare myself for fasts and ease myself into them by eating less and lighter foods days in advance. This time I just decided that is what I'm going to do even though I had had some pizza the night before, which anyone who tries to do fasts and detoxes knows that that is not a way to ease into them. Rest assured you are setting yourself up for failure and the detox or fasts don't last.
While I am not a superstitious person and tend to be more on the practical side (I call BS when I see it), I honestly think that the solar eclipse that was and is happening in the skies has spurred some sort impulse in me to not eat to help myself go inward and reflect and do some self work that I had been pushing on the side burner for so long.
Mission accomplished I have come though the fast and feel refreshed, grounded and new.
Again on an impulse I broke my fast with something I usually wouldn't...
The tantalizing aroma of freshly brewed black liquid gold in the morning enveloped my heightened senses. I don't ever drink my coffee black so I decided to honor the coconut yet again and have it with fresh squeezed coconut cream from our coconut guy, Nacho.
While coconut milk and cream are higher in sugar, the sugar releases into the blood stream at a much slower rate, so there is no sudden spike in your blood sugar.
Coconut cream in coffee was a first for me - I was an absolute virgin to the taste and unprepared for what would hit me when I drank it.
Now this has a lot to do with fasting and anyone who does fasts or detoxes know the sense of smell and taste is heightened tenfold.
The taste of the creamy liquid gold was utter shock. The shock itself was the kind that sorta stupefies you for several seconds if not minutes cuz you didn't expect what was coming. It sits you back on your seat. You can't think as if your brain has shut off and all that is left is feeling and sensations. As the warm liquid ran down my throat I could feel the kick of the caffein hitting me after the first sip. My brain started to tingle and my toes curled. I took a deep breath closed my eyes and just reveled in the sensation - it was of the purest orgasmic state that any coffee has ever bestowed upon me 😌. To the point where i could feel the tantalizing taste and aroma vibrating in the cells of my very being.
At this time I am not sure if seconds or minutes passed as my cup was empty when I came back to earth. I thought to myself, surely this was a sign from the coffee and coconut gods that this match was made in heaven with the offering made just for me.
I surely will not refuse.
I drank 3 more cups of coffee...with coconut cream.
