I popped down to the local park to watch the 'Race for Life' event. It is a 3 mile walk or run to raise money for the treatment of cancer. The course is more or less flat so accessible to wheelchair users, too. You don't have to be sporty as you can take your time going around the course. It's all about having fun!
If you want to take part, it costs £15.99 for adults (aged 16+) and £11 for children (aged 6–15). All the proceeds go to putting the event on, but you are expected to get sponsorship. You can also buy t-shirts, which is why everyone was in pink. For the bigger events you usually get a free t-shirt.
There was a warm-up to start off with. The dinosaur in the middle was joining in. You can basically wear whatever you want! The dog didn’t seem too impressed, though.
I spotted a blue fox watching on. Thankfully, there were no hounds about.
The dinosaur made a good start. It was quite a warm day, so I'm sure it was going to be quite hot inside the costume.
The pink ladies with the tutus looked as they were enjoying themselves.
As I left, the frontrunners were just about finishing the course. It was a fun morning.
