LIGHT BALLS
I don't know who first came up with the idea of spinning an orb, a ball of light. It certainly wasn't me. Like everything "new" in light painting, the orb probably comes from England.
Ich weiß nicht wer als Erster auf die Idee gekommen ist einen Orb, einen Ball aus Licht, zu drehen. Ich war's jedenfalls nicht. Wie alles "Neue" im Light Painting kommt der Orb wahrscheinlich aus England.

The principle is "very simple". A light source is rotated in a circle. After each rotation, the light source is moved around a fixed point on the floor in small steps. After half a rotation around this point, the sphere is finished.
Das Prinzip ist "ganz einfach". Eine Lichtquelle wird im Kreis gedreht. Nach jeder Umdrehung bewegt man die Lichtquelle um einen festen Punkt am Boden in kleinen Schritten. Nach einer halben Umdrehung um diesen Punkt ist die Kugel fertig.

Many light painters use a light source attached to a rope or cable to spin orbs. This has the advantage that the tool is small and light and can therefore be used easily in any place. I usually use a light source that I attach to a stick. With this method, I can make the turns more slowly and thus create the light figure more precisely. Another advantage is that I can attach several light sources to the pole, as shown in the picture above.
Viele Light Painter benutzen zum Drehen von Orbs eine Lichtquelle, welche an einer Leine oder an einem Kabel befestigt ist. Das hat den Vorteil, dass das Tool klein und leicht ist und sich somit einfach an jedem Ort verwenden lässt. Ich benutze meist eine Lichtquelle, welche ich an einem Stab befestige. Mit dieser Methode kann ich die Drehungen langsamer ausführen und somit die Lichtfigur präziser erstellen. Ein weiterer Vorteil ist, dass ich mehrere Lichtquellen am Stab befestigen kann, wie im Bild oben zu sehen.

Until an orb looks like the one in this picture, you have to practise a lot. This was probably the five hundredth orb I have shot.
Bis ein Orb so aussieht wie in diesem Bild muss man viel üben. Das war gefühlt der fünfhundertste Orb, den ich gedreht habe.

In a second step, I painted light traces into this orb freehand with an acrylic blade.
In diesen Orb habe ich im zweiten Schritt noch freihand mit einem Acryl Blade Lichtspuren in den Orb gemalt.

WHAT IS LIGHT PAINTING?
Light painting is a unique form of art. The artist illuminates the scene with diverse light sources and paints light traces into the picture with various light tools. In addition, we use various other techniques, such as camera rotation or other movements of the camera during the exposure. The creative possibilities are almost unlimited.
All our pictures were taken during one single exposure. Apart from denoising, sharpening, cutting and possibly adjusting the white balance, our pictures are not processed on the computer.
