Today I prepared a curry which is one of the popular curry dish in India - Palak Paneer
Palak paneer is a dish in which Indian cottage cheese is being cooked in pureed spinach. It is being served with Roti, paratha or rice.
Let's check the ingredients quickly and the we will start preparing the curry.
:: INGREDIENTS ::
š Spinach - 3 Medium Bunch
š Cottage cheese - 350 Gm
š Onions - 2 Medium
š Garlic - 4 Cloves
š Ginger - 1 Inch
š Green Chilli - 2-3
š Fresh Creme - As Required
š Oil for cooking - 1.5 Tablespoon
š Salt - As per the taste
š Garam Masala - 1/2 Teaspoon
š Asafoetida - A Pinch
š Dry Mango Powder - 1/2 Teaspoon
š Cumin Seeds - 1 Teaspoon
:: PROCESS ::
Clean the spinach and wash properly in running water.
Chop the onions into small pieces and make square pieces of paneer.
Blanch the spinach in boiling water to maintain its colour.
Once the spinach is cold, grind the spinach with ginger, garlic and green chillies to make smooth puree.
Heat the pan and add oil. Put cumin seeds and Asafoetida in the oil.
Once cumin seeds start tempering, add chopped onions into it.
Fry onions until turn translucent.
Once onions turn golden, add paneer cubes in it so that paneer also will get fry a little. You can fry paneer cubes in separate pan also.
Once paneer fried a little, add pureed spinach in it.
Add dry spices like dry mango powder, garam masala and salt in it.
Let it boil for some more time until the gravy thicken. Lastly add fresh cream in it.
Mix it well so that cream combine with the spinach well.
Our Palak Paneer is ready now. Serve it will roti or parantha.
We have it today with triangle parantha and slides cucumber and onions.
