Okay, maybe that's a bit too dark for a title but it's the simple truth about Dieting and it's actions. I saw in a movie where a lady almost lost her life just because she wanted to keep fit by going on a diet. She wasn't fat, she just wanted to make sure she never adds more weight but the way she went about it almost killed her.
This lady began to lose more weight, weight that I think she needed. She got to the point where she throws up if she ate a little too much, she even forced the throw up sometimes. It was a very rare sight to watch for me, how far people go to keep fit or look good.
Aside the fact that dieting could threaten taking one's life if taken to the extreme, it can also cause an unhappy feeling for the individual. There's hardly one who is trying to lose weight that is happy about it, they are too conscious and intentional about their body weight that they forget to have fun, be happy and stay true to themselves.
While some people have achieved good body weight with this, there are a lot of people out there who do same but no result and this is because they failed to figure out what works for them. I know some people get quite unlucky to have the kind of body that whatever they eat, they just add weight with it. But I believe one can adjust his or her lifestyle to keep a healthy weight.
Going on a diet should be replaced with eating healthy meals only. There is a difference and the focus is also different. You are focusing on keeping a good health through the kind of meals you eat rather than being obsessed with your weight and intentionally skipping meals or eating specific kind of meals.
"You are what you eat" is a popular saying and that also means, eating healthy to look and stay healthy.
Like my friends will always, I should be grateful for the kind of body and weight I have. I could go a whole year with no intentional exercise and eat a lot but gain little or no weight. I saw my relatives some weeks ago after many years and the first thing a lot of them said was, "You've not changed at all" because I still looked like I looked years ago in body size.
But even with my kind of body, I know the importance of exercise and eating healthy so I do not joke with it. Dieting and exercise could be done to the extreme and that is when it becomes toxic to the individual. There's always the need for moderation in whatever we do especially when it involves our body and life in general.
I would suggest going the "eat healthy, stay fit" way than dieting. For those who must lose weight, I believe they know what is causing them more weight so they need discipline to get rid of it and focus on maintaining healthy body weight.
