This is one of the best topic for me on which I can talk endlessly. Food, the most important thing in my life, well most of the people would say the same as we heard this a lot, there are some people who just eat to stay alive and then there are people who are living just to eat. So, I am living my life to eat and stay alive. Food makes me happy and I do not give negative feedbacks, it is just ok or awesome. I am lucky that I have tasted a lot of different dishes around the world, from cheapest and rarest food to the most expensive and luxurious food, credit goes to my family and friends who always invite me to those places and we do have lunch or dinner together. Dining out is mandatory or else I do get sick if I don’t get outside food.
My formula is very simple, if I am not paying the bill, I suggest and opt for luxurious restaurants with high-fi menu card. And when the bill is on me, lets look out for some reasonable which means cheap in my dictionary. Firstly, lets talk about the cheap food I had in my life. Mostly, I look out for deals and promotions on facebook but there was a time when I was in Egypt, I do walk around in Cairo with my friends and we usually have lunch on the streets. Their most common street food is Ta’ameya which is also called falafel in other Arab countries. It is so delicious and very cheap. Just one Egyptian Pound at that time in 2008, don’t know how much it is right now. Its mixture of beans fried to make balls and then filled in pita bread with some other vegetables and tahini sauce. It cost just $ 0.15 and its very tasty. I remember that when my eldest bro was there in Egypt, he also enjoyed this street food. It’s the cheapest food I ever had and my Mother used to love it a lot too. Every other day, we both used to have it in lunch.
Its hard for me to confirm the most expensive food I ever had because I don’t know about the bill. For example, last week, I was out with friends and we were three. I have shared a post of it too, the bill was of PKR 4400 which is expensive in my opinion. couple of months ago, when my eldest bro was here in Pakistan, we had a lot of food outside and in many expensive restaurants but still I don’t know about the bills. In all these memories, I do remember that once upon a time, when I was in Sweden with my Mother to meet my Bro and his family, we went to Finland on a cruise and we had lunch in a floating restaurant. Yes, that restaurant was five star and my bro choose the most expensive dish from the menu card. As I have seen in movies, the portion was very less, the waiter who served was very stylish and the food was awesome. We had a typical Swedish dish having some mash potatoes and steamed fish. There were four types of fish on the plate and all looked half cooked. I ate it all hehehe and yes, I consider it as the most expensive food of my life. I had its picture after eating it all.
The expensive food which I had with my own money is after wedding, I searched and went to one of the oldest Chinese restaurants in Karachi Meikong. We had two dishes: Chowmein and Shashlik and it cost me around PKR 3000. The worst thing was after having dinner there, my wife said I was in the mood of having Burger from street. She was asking me for the burger worth of PKR 150 after spending PKR 3000. Never mind, it was lesson for me. I am always ready for the dine outs and the food is my love.
