Get to know the history of the Bogor Botanical Garden, history, which was originally part of the Samida ( artificial forest or cosificial gareden) during the reign of Sri Baduga Maha Raja in 1474-1513.
Then in the early 1800s, the Governor General Thomas Stamford Raffles who in habited the Bogor palace, was interested in developing the Bogor palace court yard into a beautiful garden with the help of the botanical W.Kent.
Who co-founded Kew garden in London, with a classic english design. This is the begining of the Bogor Botanical gardens in its form until now, in 1814, Olivia Raffles, the wife of the Governor general, Thomas Stamford, died, as a sevice,a monuments was made.
This historic monument was erected by Sir Thomas Stamford Raffles, the Lieutenant-Governor of Jawa (1812-1816), in memory of his Wife.
Olivia Mariamne Raffles died of malaria in 1814, age 43.
The road in the Bogor botanical gardens, this botanical garden has an area of about 87 hectars, its location id in the Center of the City of Bogor, West Java, Indonesia.
It takes s long time to surround this place this botanical garden is one of the areas that is intended for a collection of wet low land tropical plants. Has around 15.000.(fifteen thousand) type of collections of trees plants.
This botanical garden as research for scientists in the field of botany and as educational tours,as a means of plant research.
Before entering visitors must buy a ticket for Rp 15.000,-(fifteen thousand) rupiah, at the entrance there is a map of the area to guide visitors so they don't get lost. If visitor are not strong enough to walk, the manager provides s vehicle.
I myself chose to walk to surround the Bogor botanical gardens and it took a few hours in this place. The existing trees and plant by the manager are numbered and Latin names.
The trees and plants are quite old, such has been planted since 1914, The king tree from Asia,
Koompassia excelsa is a tree from the Leguminosal family, and is often found in Southeast Asia, including Indonesia, Malaysia,the Philippines and Thailand.
This tree, whose timber is often know as tualang or manggaris, can grow to be over 80 meters tall and is the tallest tree in Southeast Asia, this tree was planted in Bogor botanical garden in 1914.
This place is shady and shady and comfortable for walking, while walking I see one of the old white building was built in 1884.
This building was built in 1884 and originally was funtioned as the Residens, of the director of the Bogor garden.
Now, the building is used as a guest house that can be rented by the public, Nusa Indah ( beautiful island). Then there is a zoological museum in this area.
The main road in the areas is quite good, as for as can see it garden, and there are road sign so it is easier to find objects, like there is a the park is called the Teijsmann park.
This garden was established in 1884 by Dr. Melchior Treub in honor of Johannes Elias Teijsmann and his services to these botanical garden.
Teijsmann was curator of s'Lands plantentuin(now Bogor botanical garden) from 1831 to 1869, is a monument erected in memory of Teijsmann, this made of granite specially imported from Berlin ,Germany.
Then the foot goes a gains to see there is a compkex of ancient Dutch tombs.
This old cemetery was here long before was established. By G.G.C Rein wards in 1817.
The gravestones, their ornaments and scripts are quite artistic. There are 42 graves, in the area 38 of which supplied the identities of the dead persone. Most of wore relative of the Dutch colonial Governor generals at the time.
Among these are the groves of D.J.de Eerrns s Governor general during 1836-1840 and Mr. Any prins a lowyer who were twice the acting Governor general.
This area, we can see a palace, this palace was built from 1745 to 1750, originally the official residence of 38 Dutch Governor general and one British Governor general, from 1870 to 1941, after which the Bogor palace was made the Presidential palace of six palaces.
