Dear chess fans,
yesterday the 3rd round of season 15 was played as a 4+3 arena with 31 players. Welcome to and
who joined for the first time!
It was the day of who could achieve his first tournament win, and what a win it was! The gap to the runner-up,
was 8 points! Congratulations!
was left with the third rank, followed by a group of 3 players with equal points:
(tortyllan),
and
(Pavarotty).
In my last game against , close to finish, he (with the Black pieces) blundered a Queen on move 16 and was hopelessly lost 2 moves later, a draw offer I declined.
In this position instead of resigning, he let run his clock for >2min., just so that the tournament closed, and resigned immediately afterwards.

I was (and am still) really pissed off, his behviour didn´t get him a point and would not have affected his ranking, he was lost anyway, but I could have ended up to 3 ranks higher.
In mutual time scramble I think it is pretty obvious that you try to flag your opponent or swindle yourself to a stalemate even in a lost posiiton, but here we both had >4 minutes on the clock. I think this is a very unsportsmanlike behavior, and I hope we don´t see this anymore in the future. Yes, according to the rules this is allowed, but not everything which is allowed should be done. Not sure what would happen, if such a behavior would be shown by one of the super GMs in the champions chess tour - I think it is even not imaginable that one of the top shots could do this and get away with it. What do you think about it?

As reminder, if you add as beneficiary to your tournament reports, I will feature them here and upvote them much higher!
Season 15: 03 Mar to 5 May 2023 / Ranking after 3 rounds:
The rules you can look up in the S15 announcement post.
See you all next week - and keep practicing!
On another note, I registered for a classical OTB tournament here in Vienna, starting in May - 7 rounds Swiss. I have not played a classical tournament since ages. Will for sure be a disaster, but fun too!
