I completely agree with you. While as a child I could have afforded it (though I would have considered it a waste of time, because even DB isn't as drawn-out as OP, and remember, when we were kids, DB was the definition of poor pacing xD), from an adult perspective, it's a complete waste of time. Not only is the pacing from a different era (the first episode aired in October 1999), but the drawing style is also different, the animation is worse... There are a few irritating factors.
As for remakes and voyeurism, that's exactly what happens. Pierrot, like Shueisha (yes, I know 1 is the animation studio, 2 is the publisher), created a dedicated unit to handle one thing. Toei made decent OP/DB films, so after 2 or 3 TYBW, Pierrot created a dedicated sub-studio to make anime on a theatrical level. Now they're adapting some manga or something. I don't know the title, so I don't remember it. A big-budget Naruto movie has been in development for a year or two. Rumors are circulating that it's a prequel and will show the Fourth Hokage, aka the Yondaime, at his peak. In my opinion, this is a logical direction.
In 2-3 weeks, I'll be posting Part 1 of my long article about the current anime boom, where I expand on this topic a bit.
Best regards, and thanks for the comment :)
