Episode 6. The Kidnapping of Minho

Vincent, the head of Lucio Group, has a headache over the stalled AI chip project. Experts estimated that it would take at least a decade for the project to be commercially successful, and he was willing to be a guinea pig if it ever got anywhere.

He left the office and headed home. There was a strange package at the front door.

He took the package into the living room and carefully opened it. It contained a USB, so I turned on my laptop and plugged it in. The antivirus program told me that there were no viruses, and the contents of the USB showed videos and documents.

I played the video. There was a man who looked exactly like him. The man said it was his future self.

He also informed Vincent of Dr. Minho's existence and told him that a future AI chip 20 times better than theirs had been sent to him and that he should get it.

He told Dr. Minho to stop the future AI chip from getting into his hands and take it away. He explains that he is now using the AI chip to implant it into people and control them with it. He warns that if he doesn't get it, there will be no future for Lucio Group.

The package also contained a pistol with the future AI chip that had been delivered to Minho.

Vincent was embarrassed by his future self; he had started the project with good intentions. It was a project to improve the quality of life for paralyzed and deaf patients. It had become a way to control people. Vincent gave the design documents to the lab to analyze.

He also had them monitor what they were doing to Minho.

Meanwhile, Minho has moved into a new building. The building has a tight security system, and the AI chip in his smartphone is constantly being upgraded.

"Ginny, what's going on with Lucio Group?" Minho asked Ginny.

"They're trying to start clinical trials on humans."

"But it's still a few years away from commercialization." Ginny replied.

At Lucio Group's lab, the team analyzed the blueprints Vincent had given them and developed a new AI chip. The first clinical trial, implanted in a paraplegic patient, was successful.

Vincent was overjoyed. But there was still a long way to go. He was confident that if he could make the future AI chip according to the design, he could take over the global market.

Vincent is sitting on his couch late at night, drinking. He can't ignore the messages from his future self. The last time he hired a thief to rob his office, he got nothing.

I thought, 'Minho may have implanted future AI chips into his brain on his own.'

And I thought I should go back to Korea and find a solution.

A few days later, Vincent arrived at Incheon Airport, having been invited to speak at a conference on AI chip brain transplantation. He stayed at a hotel in Seoul and instructed me to arrange the necessary personnel.

The plan was to kidnap Minho and steal the future AI chip from him.

They took him to a ramshackle building on a deserted construction site.

After a while, Minho woke up. Standing in front of him is Mr. Vincent.

Taking control of Minho's body, the genie hardened his body and uploaded the core solutions for Taekwondo and other martial arts.
His body vision was activated to the maximum.

Just as the doctor was about to give Minho an injection, she cut the rope with her powerful muscles and grabbed the doctor's arm. He snatched the syringe away.

Outside the operating room, unarmed men attacked to subdue Minho. But Minho's fuselage vision allowed him to recognize their attack patterns and dodge them.

The genie was controlling Minho's movements with greater agility.

The mercenaries were knocked off their feet by the genie's enhanced punch.

Minho subdued one after another.

Surprised by Minho's martial arts skills, Secretary Vincent drew his gun and pointed it at Minho.

루시오 그룹의 대표 빈센트는 지지부진한 AI칩 프로젝트로 머리가 아팠다. 적어도 상업적으로 성공하려면 10년은 걸릴 것이라고 전문가들을 예상하고 있었다. 그는 어느 정도 프로젝트가 진행된다면 자신이 실험체가 되고자 하는 마음도 있었다.

대표실을 나와 집으로 향했다. 현관 문앞에 이상한 택배가 와 있었다.
택배물을 가지고 거실로 들어와 조심스럽게 열어보았다. USB가 들어있었는데 노트북을 켜고 USB를 꽂았다. 백신프로그램이 바이러스가 없다는 것을 알려주었고 USB 내용을 보니 동영상과 문서들이 존재했다.

동영상을 재생하였다. 거기에는 자신과 똑같은 모습의 사람이 나왔다. 남자는 미래의 자신이라고 말했다. 그러면서, USB 자료중에 루시오 그룹의 미래 AI칩 설계서가 있다고 알려주었다. 또한 민호 박사에 존재를 알려 주었고 자신들보다 20배 좋은 미래 AI칩이 전송되었으니 꼭 확보하라고 지시하였다. 민호의 손에 미래 AI칩이 들어가는 것을 막고 빼앗으리고 하였다. 지금 자신은 AI칩을 통해 사람들에게 AI칩을 이식하고 그것을 가지고 그들을 통제하고 있다고 설명했다. 확보하지 못한 다면 루시오 그룹의 미래는 없다고 경고하였다.

또한 택배물엔 민호에게 전달되었던 미래AI칩 권총이 들어있었다.
빈센트는 미래에 변한 자신의 모습에 당황스러웠다. 그는 좋은 의미로 시작했던 프로젝트였다. 마비 환자나 소리를 듣지 못하는 환자들을 위해 삶의 질을 높이는 프로젝트였기 때문이다. 이런 마음은 없어지고 사람들을 통제하는 수단으로 전락하고 만 것이다. 일단 빈센트는 연구소에 설계 문서를 넘기고 분석을 하게 하였다.
또한 민호에 대해 무엇을 하고 있는지 동향을 조사하도록 하였다.

한편 민호는 새로운 건물로 이사했다. 건물에는 철저한 보안 시스템을 적용하였고 스마트폰에 장착한 AI칩에 대해 계속 업그레이드를 진행하였다.

“지니, 루시오 그룹의 움직임은 어때?” 민호는 지니에게 물었다.

“현재는 인간을 대상으로 임상시험을 시작하려는 모양이에요.”
“하지만 상용화까지는 몇 년을 더 있어야 할 거 같아요.” 지니가 대답했다.

루시오 그룹 연구소에서는 빈센트로부터 받은 설계서를 분석하고 새로운 AI칩을 개발해 나갔다. 그리고 첫 임상 시험에서 전신마비환자에게 이식한 프로젝트가 성공적으로 끝났다. 그래서 빈센트는 상당히 기뻐하였다. 하지만 갈길이 너무 멀었다. 미래 AI칩을 설계서 대로 만들기만 한다면 전세계 시장을 잠식할 수 있다고 자신했다.

빈센트는 깊은 밤 소파에 앉아 술을 마시고 있다. 미래 자신에게서 온 메시지를 무시할 수 없기 때문이다. 지난번에 도둑을 시켜 사무실을 털었지만 아무것도 건진 것이 없었다.

‘미래 AI칩을 민호가 스스로 뇌에 이식했을 수도 있다’라고 생각했다.
다시 한번 한국으로 들어가서 해결책을 찾아 봐야겠다고 생각했다.

몇일 후, AI칩 뇌이식 학회에 강사로 초청받아서 빈센트는 인천공항에 도착했다. 서울에 있는 호텔에 묵고 필요한 인력을 섭외하라고 지시했다. 민호를 납치하여 민호로부터 미래AI 칩을 빼앗고자 했다.

민호는 AI칩 뇌이식 학회에 빈센트가 강사로 온다는 소식을 듣고 강연을 들어보기 위해 참석했다. 빈센트 회장은 루시오 그룹에서 진행하는 AI칩 뇌이식 관련해서 진행상황을 이야기 했다. 민호는 빈센트 회장에게서 크게 달라진 느낌을 받지는 못했다.

민호는 학회를 마치고 돌아오는 길이었다. 미행하는 봉고차가 있다. 사무실 건물로 들어서기 전에 작은 골목길에서 봉고차는 민호의 앞을 막고 여러명의 괴한들이 민호를 붙잡았고 마취제가 묻은 수건으로 민호를 마취시켰다. 그리고 봉고차로 끌고 들어갔다. 인적이 없는 허름한 공사현장의 건물로 데리고 갔다.

잠시의 시간이 흐르고 민호가 깨어났다. 민호 앞에는 빈센트 회장이 서있다.

“민호, 미래에서 온 AI칩의 설계도를 넘겨라.”
“빈센트 회장, 무슨 말인지 모르겠네요.”
“민호, 당신은 몇개월전에 미래에서 온 택배물를 받았겠지. 거기에는 AI칩 설계도와 AI칩 샘플이 들어있었을 거야”
“아니 어떻게 알고 있죠?”
“나도 미래에서 온 택배물을 받았으니까.”

“순순히 내 놓지 않을 거라고 생각은 했지.” 빈센트 회장은 비서에게 신호를 보냈다.
한쪽 방에는 수술대가 준비되어 있었다. 의사가 빈센트회장 앞으로 나왔다.

“준비됐습니다. 회장님”

“잘 처리하고 보고하시오” 빈센트 회장은 비서에게 지시를 하고 개인차량으로 돌아갔다.
민호는 위급함을 느꼈다. 잘못하면 수술대에 오르고 AI칩을 빼앗길수 있다.
‘지니, 도와줘’
‘민호, 걱정하지 마세요. 제가 있잖아요. 몸의 컨트롤를 저에게 맡겨주세요.’
‘알았어. 지니에게 맡길께.’

민호 몸의 컨트롤을 맡은 지니는 몸의 상태를 단단하게 만들었다. 또한 태권도 및 각종 무술의 핵심 솔루션이 업로드 되었다. 동체시력은 최대한 활성화되었다.

의사가 민호에게 주사를 놓으려는 순간, 강력한 근력으로 밧줄을 끊고 주사를 놓으려던 의사의 팔을 붙잡았다. 주사기를 빼앗아 치워버렸다.

수술실 바깥에 있는 무인들이 민호를 제압하려고 공격하였다. 하지만 민호의 동체시력은 미리 공격 패턴을 알고 피하게 했다. 지니는 민호의 몸놀림을 더욱 민첩하게 컨트롤하고 있었다.

지니에 의해 강화된 주먹을 맞고 용병들은 나가 떨어졌다.
민호는 차례로 무인들을 제압했다.

민호의 무술실력에 놀란 빈센트 비서는 총을 뽑아 민호에게 겨누었습니다.
