No joke, my wife and me biked through the atlantic ocean today.
But let me start from the beginning.
At the moment my wife and me enjoy our holidays in France, on the island l'isle Noirmoutier. For some impressions see my last post
Today we rented two bikes and went for a day trip through the island.
The nature is beatifull here. On this picture one can see a pig in the mud:
A lot of birds are here:
Then we came to a place, where one can cross the sea to the continent - but only on low tide.
So we did it. The street is about two or three kilometers long.
When we went over, the sea was partly so far away, that we could not see it.
I felt a little bit like Moses :-)
On the other side we biked through the lanes and came to some lonely and strange places, in the grip of the nearby sea. We had to take some detours:
We also made a short break, but then we realised, that the time is running out, as our goal, the bridge, was not reachable on the direct way. So we had to go back, but now the tide was comming back.
When we reached the submarine road, the barrier was not closed, but the water came back.
But it was not a problem. We reached the shore with dry feet.
There we went to the west coast and layed on the beach.
After about two hours we came back to see the water level. And surprise: the street was gone.
Here some before and after pictures:
(Whatch the traffic sign in the water)
All in all we biked 58 km today.
