I present one of the most emblematic places of Porto and from which one can enjoy wonderful views of other special places in the city.
One of the emblematic places of the city of Oporto is undoubtedly the Don Luis I Bridge that joins the city of Oporto with Vila Nova de Gaia over the Douro River.

This iron and steel bridge was inaugurated more than a century ago and currently has two distinct transit areas. On the one hand, there is the lower area where the road traffic passes and an upper part where the streetcars pass.
One of the curiosities that has fascinated me about this bridge is that from it one can enjoy the views of several emblematic points of the city without moving from it.
Fernandina Wall
This wall is named after King Ferdinand of Portugal. Since during his reign its construction was completed. Like all walls, originally had a purely defensive character of the city and after centuries it was demolished, leaving only a few sections of it.
An ideal place to contemplate this wall is from the Bridge of Don Luis I or from the funicular that runs very close to the wall.
Monastery of the Sierra del Pilar
In the Serra do Pilar mountain range, on the banks of the Douro River in Vila Nova de Gaia, is the Serra do Pilar Monastery, which is one of the city's tourist attractions. This beautiful 16th century monastery has as a curiosity that during the years of civil war in Portugal was converted into barracks and over the years has been recovering the heritage that previously existed in it.
In turn, in this place there is a great viewpoint where you can see the bank of the Douro River that is next to the city of Oporto.
Gaia Pier
From the Bridge of Don Luis I you can enjoy wonderful views of the Douro River and the docks of Gaia. Undoubtedly, an ideal place to enjoy a sunset watching the golden reflections of the sun on the waters of the Douro.
Street Art
Porto is one of the cities where street art abounds in its streets and it could not be less that in one of its most emblematic places we do not find urban art.
The mural next to the Don Luis I Bridge is a faithful image of the way of being of the citizens of Porto, as it represents the hospitality of its citizens with the image of a man extending his hand in an unmistakable symbol of hospitality and help.
Undoubtedly, this fabulous bridge is one of my favorite places in Porto and I recommend you to visit if you are ever in the city.
