I'm back with another zoo episode, to show you what kind of cuties we saw when last time we visited the zoo I was talking about here, here and here.
There are a few rules when visiting any zoo, for a very good reason. One of which is DO NOT FEED THE ANIMALS! Visitors think it's a good thing to give food to animals, having no idea how harmful is to give them food that they are not used to.
This cutie was looking for attention, staying at the fence, sticking his (or her?) nose out, hoping to get a treat. I had no food in my bag, and even if i were, would have never give salty or sweat, human food tho them. However, I was looking for some grass as that's good for them, but the grass was so short, I could not find any.
So I touched his nose, which was extremely soft. He was very friendly and happy as well. Judging from his behavior, he is getting petted all day, every day and he likes it. These animals most likely were already were born in captivity, they don't know wild life and are used to being close to humans from a very young age.
Last year there was one pony roaming around freely in the zoo, in the middle of the crowd, without being bothered by the visitors.
He wasn't the only one, there were other horses, but were far, probably having lunch. On the other hand they have a large space to enjoy the days, with trees to keep them cool.
This zoo is not just a zoo, it's an educational center as well. There are not only photos, but different exhibits that teach not only children but adults as well about animals and wildlife in general.
This is the Let It Grow project, which is a project to help insects have a safe place.
This is the so called insect hotel, full ow wood and bricks, in which insects can build a home for themselves. It may look strange at first glance but in fact it is a very useful thing. These insects have a role in life, plus birds are feeding with insects as well. Kids need to learn this.
There were some bird houses as well, spread all over the zoo. I'm not sure if they feed the birds in these little bird houses but it's nice to offer them a home.
Next was this huge guy, called the American bison. Actually the name is confusing as the sign is in a few languages and the English name is wood bison.
These are huge animals, one can go to even 1000kg, which is huge.
It is quite frightening, but these were calm, at least I've never seen them angry or agitated.
The superstar of the zoo, who else than Bambi!!! You should see the kids when they get to this cutie, they start to scream Bambi as they know the deer from the movie.
This was very friendly though.
Till she got bored and turned her back on us.
Next was the collared peccary.
I don't think I've ever seen such an animal before but this was was cute. Her family was resting in the shade as it was quite a hot day.
